HELP BEAUTIFY OUR CITY: CROSSWALK PAINTING DAY
June 20, 2026: Bring Family and Friends and help paint downtown crosswalks with designs inspired by the winners of the 2025 Crosswalk Design Competition.

Saturday, June 20, 2026
Meet at the corner of Veterans Park
9:30 - 11:30 AM

In partnership between the City of Galva, the Galva Arts Council - Galva, Illinois, and Allenia Design, we will decorate downtown crosswalks on:
- Front Street by IL-34 / Exchange Street
- Market Street by IL-34 / Exchange Street (part of)

Crosswalks will be painted with base color and base patterns ahead of time. Follow the general design of the crosswalk and overlay using stencils and other paint tools provided.

Refreshments are provided during the painting time. Light lunch "Taco Bar" is available if you stay until the end of the program.

It will be a busy Saturday! Besides "More on 34" that day, don't forget to join the Galva Arts Council - Galva, Illinois "Garden Walk" program started at 10 AM, and meet the Master Gardener and Resident Landscape Designer at Allenia Space at 3 PM for a presentation and discussions about seasonal planting and the latest on garden design.

Spending the afternoon thinking about how Carrara with Vintage Bronze would look in a White Oak filled room, how the warmth Travertine stone with Vintage or Antique Gold finishes reminds me of that Italianate-inspired farmhouse I drove by often - under the glistening sun, the Satin Nickel with the Glass trims, tiles, and the Mosaic bring texture and fun to mundane spaces, and yes - the hand painted Porcelain patterned tiles, white Quartzites, and Vintage finishes that make me feel good aging gracefully...

I should start writing a poem!
