GeriatRx Senior Care Consulting is partnering with The Mama Joe Project to bring My Mama Joe, Hope & Help to the Triangle. This documentary screening and community conversation will focus on caregiving, dementia, brain health, healthy aging, and the real challenges families face while trying to support loved ones through complex health and aging journeys.
For Dr. DeLon Canterbury, this work is personal. His own grandmother’s journey with dementia shaped his passion for helping families, caregivers, and older adults feel more informed, supported, and less alone as they navigate these difficult realities. This event is one more way we hope to create space for honest conversation, education, and community connection. The Mama Joe Project documentary details the true story behind Black Families caregiving for their Matriarch, Mama Joe, who is battling Alzheimer's Disease and her journey.
The event is free and open to the community, and our goal is to make sure families, caregivers, older adults, healthcare professionals, and community partners know this resource is available. We will have a dynamic Panel Discussion right after the film screening featuring Teepa Snow and other Dementia-Friendly Experts!
