Yet another long-ass time between posts, but a LOT has happened since then.

We've moved back to Texas after a dismal experience in Montana trying to find a home with a suitable space for a shop, studio, and survival pantry/gun room. We're still working on the new place back in Melissa Texas, but we're likely a few months out on having the shop fully functional again. The timing absolutely sucks, but life isn't always kind and throws curve balls without notice. Hopefully we'll have things going again in early 2024 and posting new products and new designs.

It's taken me 6+ months to get the home recording studio (James Street Station) back in shape and 98% functional, but now that's close to complete I can focus on the leather shop, then the survival pantry and gun room. Needless to say, we're always busy around here with to-do lists that would make most folks crumple and cry like a little girl.

Stay tuned if you have the patience. We'd definitely appreciate it.

These no-stitch minimalist card carriers seem to be popular lately, so borrowing inspiration and design elements from I decided to whip up a version in Illustrator and give one a try myself. Turned out pretty nice for a first go at it.
Growley makes some of the nicest leather goods out there, and I hope my attempt is only seen as it was intended. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". I aspire to be as original and talented as Brian. Their story (on their website) is very inspiring as well.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that some tools are functional works of art. Here's another addition to that lineup.
Maksym over at truly delivered on this one. 24 oz stabilized maple burl maul and ~18 oz Wenge & brass weights.
I dig my mauls. They're functional and get the job done with zero complaint and only praise from both me and my wife, but sometimes it's not just about that. Sometimes it's about getting it done with STYLE! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Only 14 days from payment, to making, to delivery. UBER-fast process from start to finish, and just LOOK at the final product. I can't wait to put these bad boys to work this weekend. If you've been considering adding any of Maksyms tools to your arsenal JUST DO IT! DO IT NOW!

As many of my artisan brothers and sisters will attest, there are good days and there are bad days when it comes to the craft. Then there are days that, no matter how much you screw up, that same craft will show you how forgiving a mistress she really is. There are so many screw-ups in this piece I don't even know where to begin. Then again, I'm my own worst critic.
Today was a GOOD day!

I guess the cross stitch practice run I did last week wasn't in vain after all. Been procrastinating on stitching the grip covers on my Amy Roke pliers for a while now. Decided to knock that out today and be done with it. Not half bad if I say so myself.

Laser engraved scrap leather insert for a 9"x5" oil rubbed bronze metal tray I had laying around. Just tacked it down with S18 in case I want to change it out later.

Pics on my noggin' forthcoming. Hands down the best hat I've ever had, or will likely ever have. 100% beaver, custom fit to my head, hand made in New Mexico. Scott O'Farrell (Kevin's son) made this specifically for me. 10 months in the making, he called every couple of months just to stay in touch and keep me updated on where my hat was on the waiting list. Worth every penny, and every second I waited. I've never put a hat on my head that was so comfortable with such a perfect fit.

It's no secret that I , and I carry the appropriate sized comb for a large beard. However, that comb isn't suitable for tidying up a handlebar mustache (in the works), so I carry a smaller comb for that. I got tired of breaking tines off the smaller ones, so decided to throw together a small sheath for it. 15 minutes later....

Rainy day outside, lazy day inside, figured I'd practice a cross stitch before sewing the grips onto my Amy Roke pliers. That whole "practice makes perfect" thing.
Yeh...Still needs a little more practice. 🤟😜🤘
