Our team was recently in Greece and got to stand on Areopagus Hill, where Paul preached his sermon in Acts 17.

Standing on this rock was my first time being in proximity to a place/landmark in Scripture, and I was overcome with awe and wonder. This is the rich inheritance we have as followers of Christ. A lineage of saints who have gone before us, faithfully proclaiming the gospel of Jesus, spreading Christianity to new places. All praise and glory and honor be to God.

Wherever you are today, let’s not forget the family that we’ve been adopted into and the story we are in.

I was recently reading Genesis and struck by these words of Joseph.

“And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭45‬:‭5‬ ‭

He’s speaking these words to his brothers, who’d thrown him into a pit and left him for dead earlier in life. And now he was in a position of authority over them, the one deciding whether or not give them food in the midst of a massive famine.

I don’t know what events in your past it’d be easier to attribute to someone else as harm than acknowledge that God allowed for it to happen (different than purposed it) but I’m sure you have some. I know I do.

What if we ask God to help us believe the words of Joseph in my our own stories? What someone else intended for harm, God meant to preserve life. Not by saving people from a physical famine, but as a means to speak further life into your soul and bring glory to him. To advocate for and encourage others and echo that soul reaching life only He provides.

So if the dark parts of your story feel heavy today, know you’re not alone. And there is a God big enough to use them to preserve life. 🤍

This is our why.

That the girls, teens, and women in our lives would have a tangible reminder that they are not alone as they learn the stories of Jesus-loving women from all time periods, cultures, ethnicities and professions.

It’s that time again when New Year’s resolutions are swirling around us and targeted ads pop up for fitness goals, financial goals, lifestyle adjustments, and more.

Instead of focusing on behavioral management, we want to usher in the new year with a time of simple reflection, centered on The One who created time.

Take a break from the pressure to plan, pledge, and perform. For this reflection guide, you just need a handful of minutes of uninterrupted focus. For some of us, that’s with a cup of tea in a quiet room. For others, it’s unloading the dishwasher while we listen to worship music on our headphones.

Whatever that looks like for you, take a deep breath and reflect on the ways you’ve experienced the Lord this year.

Teen girls are constantly being encouraged to find their identity in many temporary things — relationships, friend groups, body image, success.

Here at Great Cloud, we want to see girls be reminded of the truth that their identity is rooted in being made in the likeness of God — an image bearer of the one who created them.

When we rightly see ourselves and others as fellow image bearers of God, we are reminded of the inherent value God has spoken over us, and can walk boldly and graciously into wherever God leads us, knowing there are so many women who have gone before us in following Jesus faithfully.

We were thinking of the teen girls we know when we created this gift set, and pray it brings encouragement to the teens in your life.
