Forgotten Lore is proud to offer the Pooh Quartet by AA Milne: the first four Winnie-the-Pooh books [1924, 1926, 1927, 1928], jacketed first editions. Custom slipcase included.

This scarce and very desirable series includes When We Were Very Young, Winnie-the-Pooh, Now We Are Six, and The House at Pooh Corner. The first volume is the second state of the first printing with crisp new fax jacket. The other three are first printing, first state with original first printing jackets. Books are unmarked in very good(+) vintage condition. All hardcovers with crisp gold text on spine, gold illustrations on boards, and top edges gilt.

I've posted a detailed listing in my online catalogue on abebooks.com.

This is quite the grouping - particularly in terms of condition.

I have another cool item for the science fiction collector. It's the first mass market softcover edition - and first printing - of Frank Herbert's Dune. [1965] in about good used condition, with spine roll and general rubbing, handling wear. 95ยข on front wrap. Some sellers try to pass later printings as the first, but the original price is an obvious issue point.

Priced to sell at $125.

Yesterday this beautiful ivory and silver copy of Tennyson's Maud floated into the store. [1922] with color illustrations by Edmund Sullivan; very good early vintage hardcover. Untrimmed leaves; tissue guard over frontispiece; appears to be first Sullivan edition with Macmillan colophon on half-title verso.

Displays wonderfully - an exceptional copy for the Tennyson, art, book, and/or poetry enthusiast.

$125.

This is a first softcover printing of Philip K Dick's post-apocalyptic classic Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? [1969] about good used vintage condition, with a spine roll, some normal edgewear and rubbing, and a small chip on bottom edge of front wrap.

It appears there aren't many of these first printings on the market right now (a dozen or fewer) - and this copy has only had one owner. I guess I'm the second owner, but that doesn't really count. Anyway, the previous owner loved his science fiction collection dearly, and he read this one more than once. I've housed it in a clear sleeve.

Quite a find for the PKD fan.

Book of the Week:

The Hunting of the Snark & Other Poems. Lewis Carroll. [1903] first printing; Harper; very good(+) early vintage hardcover with jacket and original box.

This is a nearly-perfect first printing of Carroll's collection of lively poetry with the full-page art of Peter Newell. Ivory boards with gold text on spine and front board; gilt top edge; very neat ownership mark with deckled edges and tissue guard over frontispiece. Dust jacket is heavy stock - olive and gold with light normal wear. Box is worn with age but complete.

Just a wonderful item for the Lewis Carroll enthusiast, the Alice in Wonderland fan who has collected all the Alices already.

I've just acquired this wonderful vintage Tolkien book in the last few days. It's a first printing of the 1966 collector's edition: The Hobbit. Green leather with green leather slipcase - each in very good or better vintage condition. The book is crisp and tidy with sharp corners and clean boards; neat gift inscription on flyleaf; illustrated.

Just a fantastic item for the Tolkien fan, fantasy enthusiast, and/or book collector.

On sale for a few days: $382.50.

Regular price: $450.

Enjoy the rest of your week.

Book of the Week:

Fahrenheit 451. Signed by author Ray Bradbury. [1998] Easton Press limited printing; near fine or better full leather hardcover. Signed by Bradbury on signature page [COA with additional Bradbury signature laid in].

This one likely needs little introduction. It's Ray Bradbury's mid-century dystopian classic in a fine binding. Full black leather with gold text on spine, all gilt edges, ribbon marker, raised spine bands, and silk moire endpapers. Sharp and clean with only light handling wear, rubbing.

It appears only very few of these were printed; the secondary market only boasts a small handful. What a wonderful graduation or Father's Day gift idea.

$425.

(On sale this week for $360).
