Started as an eBay enterprise out of the basement of two comic book geeks, DotCom Comics has grown to an office and six full-time staff -- outgrown that space -- and then moved to central Freeport, ME, to a location with a retail store. Yes, we’re living the dream of every childhood comic book fan and opened our first ever comic book store!
If you’ve never opened a retail store and want to get the skinny on how it is to transition from online to bricks-and-mortar... Then the answer is, it’s HUGE! There are dozens or maybe even hundreds of things you won’t have ever thought of until it’s time to set up shop. You’ll need security. Window cleaners. Point of sale. Accountants and bookkeepers. Suppliers. Staff schedules. Fixtures -- LOTS of fixtures!
