A little video on the fringe twisting of my shawls or scarves.
This shawl , in the video, starts out on the loom at 22 inches wide and will have 185 bundles of yarn to be twisted. This process will take me about 3 hours to complete both ends of this shawl. Before the twist begins, and while the shawl is still on the loom, I do a hem stitch by hand that takes approximately 1 hour on each end.
When someone asks me how much time does it take to weave my towels or shawls/scarves, I can’t really give a define answer as there is so much more than weaving that goes into the finished product . So I just say - from start to finish about a week. There’s design, setup, warping, dressing the loom, weaving, hemming, wet finishing and then the final hemming on towels or twisting fringe on shawls/scarves.
I hope this little video helps to explain one of the processes that goes into the final product.
