Construction - 1 year update
Things got a little out of hand... but getting drywall soon.
For the advantages metal stud construction offers vs wood, there are a couple particular shortcomings:
-Wafer screws cause undulations in the drywall, which can take additional work to smooth out, and then it's still a high spot, just feathered out.
-Walls and doors can be a little "bouncy", especially if using residential style doorways.
To bring this construction all to a high standard, everything is spot welded, which adds stiffness to the wall, and eliminates those pesky wafer screws. We're talking laser flat, which makes it a dream for the drywall crew as a bonus, because at the end of the day, aren't you supposed to be helping the next guy and not leaving it to be their problem?
Metal studs themselves aren't substantial enough to attach a doorway to, so it is typically framed out with single 2x4's. To prevent wood warping and additional rigidity, the 2x4's have been doubled up, fay seal bonded and screwed to the metal studs, and to themselves.
So this post is at least somewhat wiring related, you'll see shielded cable is being installed also?
