Seven new pouch peanuts came in today from Stafford County Sheriff Department. Their mom had been hit by a car. These little boys and girls all look good and will be raised to be released in a couple of months!

We are fostering two beautiful female ball pythons for our friends at Second-Hand Serpents Reptile Rescue .

Ginger (pictured first) is a five year old fancy girl (enchi pastel...?). She is friendly but a little shy. Medusa is a two year old (unknown morph) ball python. She is very curious and loves to explore. I don't have the reason why they were given up to the Rescue. Both appear healthy and are very handleable.

Both are eating frozen thawed mice. Enclosures are not included. You can meet them by appointment at our shop (Possum-bilities at 211 William St in downtown Fredericksburg, Va) on Thursdays through Mondays.

Reach out by text to 703 772-2766 if you'd like more information on them or their adoption fees. All potential adopters will have to complete an application from Second-Hand Serpents. The adoption fee goes to them as well.

Update on Ms. Sriracha (our spicy new ambassador). As you can see, she is doing much better. She is slowly learning to trust me (bribery with snacks has helped a lot). I still get snorts and growls when I pick her up, but Rome wasn't built in a day 😀 😃 🙂

Meet Lucky!

I got a call this morning from Laura in Spotsylvania, Va. She saw a mama opossum on her wildlife camera last night and this morning she realized that this little guy had gotten left behind! Mama opossums can carry up to 13 babies, so it gets pretty crowded in the pouch as they grow. Sometimes a pouch peanut falls out!

Lucky had found a safe little corner to hide in all night and although he was a little chilly when Laura found him, he's doing great otherwise. We try not to keep little opossums (joeys) by themselves at this age so fortunately Winifred, Mary and Sarah were agreeable to having a slightly younger roommate! After getting a belly of warm fluids, he immediately went to the bottom of the pile and settled in.

If you ever find a very young opossum on its own, it needs a rehabber. Mama opossums usually don't realize they've lost a kid (unless they hear it calling for them), and 13 is a large number for a mammal to count. 😀 😃 🙂

We still have some spots in our first ever Reptile Yoga class! And....we are fostering two adorable baby snakes (a ball python and a corn snake) for our friends at Second-Hand Serpents Reptile Rescue so you could even go home with a new baby noodle!

This class is going to be a lot of fun and you'll learn about reptiles while you're at it! So see the flyer and sign up before the chance slithers off!

Join us for Possumz For Reading this Sunday, Aug 9th, at 11 a.m where we'll welcome Chandra Tracey & Valentina Copeland. Chandra lives in Virginia Beach and wrote the book; Valentina illustrated it. It's about a little possum named Polly who thinks she is too plain but, by the end of the book, she has learned that she is more than she thought she was!

All ages are welcome! No registration is necessary but please arrive by 1045 so we can start on time. There will be a fun craft to go with the reading and Chandra will be available afterwards to sign and sell copies of the book.

Come have some fun!
