This bathroom is one of my favorite places in this house. We added it during the master suite remodel. It’s located directly above the main floor bathroom. The wall that houses the plumbing is also a privacy wall that separates the toilet area from the shower. We weighed the bathing options and decided to go with a custom shower built into the eaves. All the tile was sourced from BMO (Building Materials Outlet). My husband convinced me to lay heated flooring under the tile. 10/10 recommend, especially if you can do the project yourself. When it’s -30 F in January, these floors are a sanctuary.
We wanted to keep the bathroom window exposed to the rest of the room for maximum light so we put opaque privacy film over the window and found some compact French doors (I think at BMO) that we could keep open without overtaking the space.
Our original plan included installing a glass shower panel instead of a shower curtain. We couldn’t afford to do it at the time and never got around to it.
The design of the bathroom was based on location of the plumbing and all the tile work was done by our friend, the tile master, .builds. My husband and I had a nice fight about the bathroom color, I swear it wasn’t supposed to be coral, and he says I told him it was. Regardless, I grew to really like it.
I had to remove almost all of my plants from the house for photos and showings, eight of them from this bathroom draped around the window. (thanks for plant sitting!).
The cabinet over the toilet was a free neighborhood find and the plant stand was thrifted. @ Minneapolis, Minnesota
