Talk about an antique plot twist! 🤫🛏️

Take a look at this incredibly rare piece of history I have up for sale! This is a genuine 19th-century Victorian salesman sample Murphy bed / folding bed cabinet.

Back in the late 1800s, furniture salesmen would carry these miniature, fully working models around to show customers exactly how a full-sized hidden bed operated. Closed up, it looks exactly like a handsome, moody Eastlake-style wardrobe or cabinet with its original stenciled floral details and porcelain drawer pull. But pull the front panel down, and it folds completely out into a hidden bed!

It is an absolute dream piece for serious antique collectors, oddity lovers, or anyone who appreciates ingenious historical design.

A huge variety of vintage costume jewelry just listed!

Just listed on eBay!

I always enjoy finding pieces with this level of craftsmanship.

The first is an Antique Chinese carved cherrywood scholar’s cabinet, dating to around 1880, featuring intricate hand carving and a beautifully detailed dragon panel.

The second is a Victorian Gothic Revival miniature sideboard hutch, likely an apprentice piece, complete with its original mirrors, turned spindles, and Gothic-inspired details.

Two completely different styles, but both showcase the kind of craftsmanship that’s hard to find today.

🏛️ MICHIGAN BUILT: The Guardian Building — Detroit

Detroit’s Guardian Building is one of Michigan’s greatest examples of Art Deco architecture.

Completed in 1929, the 40-story skyscraper was designed by architect Wirt C. Rowland as the headquarters of the Union Trust Company. Its exterior is covered in distinctive orange brick and crowned with bold geometric terra-cotta patterns designed to be visible from the streets below.

The interior is even more impressive. Visitors enter beneath colorful Pewabic tile before reaching a soaring, cathedral-like lobby filled with Rookwood tile, marble, mosaics, stained glass, gold leaf and decorative metalwork.

A monumental metal screen and Tiffany glass clock once separated the lobby from the banking hall. Michigan artist Ezra Winter also created the building’s large mosaic and industrial mural.

Its tall vaulted interior and former banking hall earned the Guardian Building its famous nickname: “The Cathedral of Finance.”

Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989, it remains one of Detroit’s most recognizable and beautifully preserved buildings.

MICHIGAN BUILT: The Castle Museum — Saginaw

At first glance, this building looks more like a French château than a government office—and that was entirely intentional.

Today’s Castle Museum was constructed as Saginaw’s original United States Post Office and dedicated in 1898. Architect William Martin Aiken selected the unusual French Renaissance Revival style, reportedly drawing inspiration from the early French settlement of the Saginaw Valley.

Its steep roofline, towers, carved stonework and castle-like silhouette gave an ordinary public building a sense of permanence and civic importance. It was architecture designed to announce that Saginaw had become a prosperous and ambitious city.

The building was later threatened with demolition—not once, but twice—before being preserved as the Castle Museum of Saginaw County History. Today, the building itself may be the museum’s most recognizable artifact.

Bought today, sold today!

We just sold this incredible, ultra-rare 1956 Precision Miniatures store counter display, produced by the iconic Ideal Toy Corporation. Introduced in the mid-1950s to capture the booming post-war hobby market, these "Easy-Build" all-plastic kits offered kids two historical models for just 39¢.

Merchant counters used these exact multi-tier cardboard displays to organize the models by eras, such as "Aircraft Through the Years" and "Locomotives Through the Years". Finding the individual kits is tough enough today, but finding a massive stack of 21 boxed kits alongside the original marquee display board is a true time-capsule discovery.
