I stayed for years because I didn't know this was abuse. I thought by asking for help I would be taking the place of someone who was "really" being abused. It is crazy-making. I assumed I was always wrong - even about what I was feeling. It has taken over a decade to begin feeling like myself again.

GASLIGHTING - let's talk about it.

This type of psychological abuse is part of the power and control found in domestic abuse... Gaslighting makes survivors doubt themselves and not see the real issue, which is that they’re being abused.

It’s not uncommon that, after a while, a survivor will start to think, “Well, is this right? Am I really not justified in feeling this way?”

The best way to tell if you are "losing it" or not... just ask. and
