Friends, family, acquaintances, pals, buds, coworkers, colleagues, and past flings (the last one was a joke), I have a request for all of you.

My brother in law, Jamie Rose, lives in Newland, NC. As you all are aware, western NC and other places have been absolutely devastated by hurricane Helene. Jamie and his family are alive and well, but they are also struggling like many others in the area. He does home construction and remodeling work for his day job and as you can probably imagine, most of not all contracts have been suspended or canceled. He is helping his neighbors with the skills he has and helping clean up and make repairs after this disaster in his community.

Jamie is much like me and I’m sure some of you feel the same way. He has never asked me for money or help because he doesn’t not want to be a burden (even though I NEVER see it that way). Family helps each other, that’s what they’re there for. And sometimes we need to reach out and ask for help from others. I’m glad he’s not on social media because I am going to make the request for him. I know folks are strained, hurting, stressed..but if you can give anything to help my brother in law, my family, it would be greatly appreciated. Even 5 bucks would go a long way to just show that he’s not in this alone.

I will post his Venmo and that way help can be sent directly to him. Jamie is a good man. He works hard for what he has, he has raised his kids pretty much singlehanded and would give you the shirt off his back. I respect the hell out of this man. If you don’t have the finances to contribute, maybe leave some comments to help encourage Jamie in these trying times. I’ll be sure to pass them along.

Thanks so much for reading, and may you be blessed tenfold for blessing him. Be well, everyone, and treat one another well. We all have our battles and (positive) reinforcements are needed from time to time.

Much love and peace to you and yours

Had a customer come in with a warped and dry rotted pickguard on their unique Italian made acoustic from the 1970's. I had a blank sheet of tortoise shell material and made a replacement for them. The original was gone, but enough glue stayed behind let me get a decent idea of the shape. First, a paper tracing, then a transfer to a manila folder for stiffness, then lastly I used a razor to cut out the template. Bam...done.

I work on most stringed instruments including Electric and Acoustic Guitars and Basses. I also have experience with banjos, mandolins, and dulcimers. I have been known to take the odd instrument as well such as an autoharp and some violins (depending on repair).

I am located in Four Oaks, NC (near Smithfield) and will take drop offs and will do pick ups for repairs. Depending on travel time, I may need to add a charge for gas and time.

Repair and Replacement pricing may vary due to circumstances and can be discussed before the work is done. I don't do upcharges without notifying the customer first!

I am available to contact weekdays and Saturday from 11am to 7pm (due to current employment constraints), but feel free to leave a message anytime and I will get with you as soon as I can.

A "best I could do with what I had" job. Basically, the guy came in and said that someone took a blow torch to his guitar so I did what I could by sanding the laminated top down and refinished it with spray lacquer from Stew Mac. It took a while, but I am fairly happy with the results.
