You've all heard about this reel, the Lexa 500 HDS. Paired up on a Proteus 8'10" Heavy, I had the chance to fish it quite a bit towards the end of last season. The only negative I had with it while catching fish was the long paddle handle. They fixed that with a super durable Power Handle that's a little shorter than the one I used. We spanked the Yellows down below and really got to test this reel. It casts a mile with zero backlash issues (adjusting the cast control on the side plate is so much easier than having to take a side plate off and adjust brake settings). It is Heavy Duty and lasts forever before much if any service is needed. Same line capacity as competing 500's.

They got this one so right I only see people having a tough time getting their hands on one or two for a bit.

I can't wait to crush the Tuna this year on it. I have both 8:1 and 7:1 speeds. Topped with the J-Braid Grand (the best there is for smoothness for its abrasion resistance......avoiding break-offs above the leader) 65/80lb in graylight and 80lb J-Flouro (the best priced high quality and super strong), These bigger 150-200lb Bluefin won't have the same chances they had with the 400's.

Get your hands on one of these, I promise you won't be bummed !
