*Current Conditions - May 28, 2026**

The rain finally came to an end for a few days; we got just over four inches this past week. Currently, the Ohio River at Meldahl Dam is at 37.46 feet and is forecasted to crest at 38.70 feet. The current flow at the dam is at 261 kcfs. Water temperature is still in the high sixties. Water conditions are muddy and rough, with lots of debris and current. Tributaries are muddy and flowing as well.

**Fishing Reports:** There wasn't much action this past week on the river or tributaries. Some light pond and lake action. Mostly due to the weather.

- **Meldahl Dam:** The dam this week has been slow, with lots of debris and high currents. There have been some throwing of spoons and occasional catching of catfish or carp. There have been a few skips and hybrids caught, but very few.

- **River Reports:** No Reports, high water, strong current, and debris.

- **Tributaries:** No Reports, high water, strong currents, and debris.

- **Lakes and Ponds:** Lakes and ponds had some light action, channel cats and bluegill reported.

- **FINS Lakes:** Light action as well, channel cats and bluegill.

Sorry for the short report, bare fishing has been slow this week because of the weather and water conditions.

Current Conditions May 23, 2026. Here is a quick update on current conditions at Meldahl Dam. Currently, the river is at 22.07 feet and is still rising. The flow at the dam is at 114 kcfs. The clarity is mixed; it's more of a heavy stain with some spots with a light muddy tint. There is a little bit of debris on the main river. To be honest, we are very surprised at how good it still looks, with the amount of rain we have received in the area and still getting, plus the river coming up, very unique not to be absolutely muddy yet.

*Current Conditions - May 21, 2026**

Well, we finally got some much-needed rain; we are in the area of 3 inches of rain, give or take, for the week. Some areas got more or less. We do have more rain in the forecast going into the weekend. Currently, the Ohio River at Meldahl Dam is at 16.72 feet and forecasted to rise to 30 feet by Monday. The unusual part is that the river was still very clear tonight in the general area above and below, even though the tributaries are running and muddy. The current flow is at 66.1 kcfs and is forecasted to be in the high 70s. The surface water temperature is in the high sixties. As mentioned above, somehow the water clarity is still good.

**Fishing Reports:** This week overall, it kind of equaled out between the river, tributaries, lakes, and ponds. With the water temperature getting into the high sixties and that time of year, it's getting close for the blue cats to spawn, which could explain the slower bite for them. Reports of lite crappie action holding trees and deeper water showing signs of post-spawn.

- **Meldahl Dam:** The dam this week was slow but steady; a lot of reports indicate you have a short, sporadic window when the bite is good for all species. There is a lot of gar activity and carp. Even with the slower bite, fish are still being caught, just not in large numbers. Chanel cats, hybrids, white bass, sauger, bighead carp, silver carp, drum, and gar have all been frequently reported. Skipjack and mooneye reports have slowed down, but are still being caught; it's hit or miss.

- **River Reports:** The main river shows the slowness as well, and it's hit or miss. Some areas have good action for all species, others have none, and it seems to have those little windows of action. A handful of blues, sauger, and hybrids reported, nothing crazy.

- **Tributaries:** Tributaries over the weekend had a lot of action and a fair amount of positive reports.

- **Lakes and Ponds:** Lakes and ponds have been very active, with all species being reported.

- **FINS Lakes:** All species have been reported in FINS lakes as well.

*Current Conditions - May 14, 2026**

This week, there hasn't been much change in conditions. The recent rainfall was just enough to keep the dust down and cooler temperatures. Currently, the Ohio River at the Meldahl Dam is at 17.30 feet, with a slow forecasted decrease over the next few days, expected to reach 14.9 feet by Tuesday. The current flow stands at 89.3 kcfs, and there are no additional visible readings on the hydrograph chart. The river level is approaching normal stages for this time of year, although we are in desperate need of more rain. Water clarity varies from heavily stained to clear, with many small particles stirred up by the wind. Surface water temperatures remain in the low sixties.

**Fishing Reports:** Overall, this week, the Lakes and ponds have outperformed the river and tributaries.

- **Meldahl Dam:** The dam this week has slowed down quite a bit; the weather has not helped at all, not to mention the amount of pressure the wall has experienced over the last three weeks. All species are being caught, just not in large numbers, and the bite is slow. With plenty of positive reports for skips, mooneye, hybrids, white bass, and catfish, just not big numbers. There have been a lot of reports about gar as well. With the weather starting to level back out and the river being more stable, plus a new moon this weekend, the bite could possibly turn back on.

- **River Reports:** The main river has shown increased activity for catfish, with many positive reports. No big numbers, just catching fish, the bite being reported as slow, the same as the dam.

- **Tributaries:** Over the weekend and into the week, tributaries have a good deal of action. Many reported catching crappie both in shallow waters and around brush. There has been plenty of activity for bluegill, channel catfish, and bass as well. But the bite is slow as well.

- **Lakes and Ponds:** Lakes and ponds have been very active, with all species being reported.

- **FINS Lakes:** All species have been reported in FINS lakes as well.

*Current Conditions - May 07, 2026**

This week has had its ups and downs, but overall it has been a decent week. Currently, the Ohio River at Meldahl is at 17.44 feet and forecasted to go to 20 feet by Saturday. The current flow is at 82.73 kcfs and forecasted to decrease into the weekend. The water temperature has changed due to the cooler days and cold nights; currently, surface water temperatures range in the high fifties and mid-sixties. Water clarity is clear to a light stain. Further downriver, the clarity changes quite a bit.
**Fishing Reports:**

- **Meldahl Dam:** Despite the cooler weather, the dam has been pretty warm. Very active both day and night with plenty of positive reports, only a handful of negative. Skijacks, mooneyes have been the most talked about, followed by hybrid bass, white bass, blue catfish, and asian carp. A small handful of saugers are still being reported as well. Overall, some claim the bite has slowed down, while others are still reeling them in. Our opinion its slowed a little bit more than likely because of the weather.

- **River Reports:** Catfish, hybrid bass, white bass, and smallmouths have been the most talked about. A lot of different techniques are being used. A lot of the catches were more spontaneous than targeted.

- **Tributaries:** Tributaries have been pretty active again, with several species being reported.

- **Lakes and Ponds:** Lakes and ponds were very active, with all species reported.

- **FINS Lakes:** FINS all species have been reported.

**Current Conditions - April 30, 2026**

It's been an interesting week for sure. The weather has been all over the place. We have received just over two inches of rain so far this week, with more rain forecasted for tomorrow. However, the river has somehow managed to clear itself back up overnight. Last night, the river was chalky and pretty much muddy in several places. But tonight it's clear and calm, a complete 360 in less than twenty-four hours. Currently, the Ohio River at Meldahl is at 18.29 feet and forecasted to rise to 21 feet by Sunday. The current flow is at 63.97 according to the hydrograph. The water temperature is still hovering in the low to mid-sixties. The water clarity is, believe it or not, amazingly clear. The tributaries are mixed but mostly muddy.

**Fishing Reports:**

- **Meldahl Dam:** Again this week, the dam has been extremely active, with skipjacks, mooneye, hybrid bass, white bass, carp, sauger, and a few catfish. A first for us: we got to see a Muskie caught at the dam, which is very rare. We have also fished the dam numerous times this week from the beach to the hydro, and we have done really well, catching numerous sauger, white bass, and hybrid bass, all of which were caught on plastics. The bite is very sporadic; it goes from on fire to lukewarm to very light and slow. Either way, the dam is still producing positive reports.

- **River Reports:** Catfish, hybrid bass, and white bass have been the most talked about. Many reports indicate that suspended drifting has been the most productive for catfish.

- **Tributaries:** Tributaries were very active throughout the weekend, with several reports of crappie being found in shallow water; some indicate the crappie bite has slowed down a little bit. All bass species were reported along with catfish.

- **Lakes and Ponds:** Lakes and ponds are still doing well, all species reported. The crappie bite is the same as tributaries, very mixed, but still catching a few, and most have been found in shallow water.

- **FINS Lakes:** FINS all species have been reported.

Thank you all for your continued support of these reports and for sharing your catches with us! We hope this information is helpful. Stay safe, have fun, and make memories! Tight Lines,
