Often times, saying goodbye can be very difficult, so we are going to take our sweet time doing it (approximately six months). Our lease expires April 30, 2027 and we will be moving on to a new season in life. Our last day of operation will be sometime in April. We will keep every one of you updated as to when that will be.
First and foremost, we want to thank every single person that has passed through our doors since March 1, 2014. We have met so many wonderful people who shared the love of music with us. People from every state and most countries have been such blessings to us. Some have become extremely close friends. Mike even got ordained and officiated the wedding of two individuals who became family to us. We always appreciated people who bought vinyl and other items from us, but we valued the conversations and relationships much more. You will be missed!
We want to thank the people who kept the doors open and helped create our unique vibe. We had some amazing employees throughout the years. Jeff, Tommy, Amber, Stephanie, Chloe, Kileigh, Carrie, Grace, Blake, Shelby, Carli, Jenna, Marlo, Audrey, Ella, Alissa, L. Denison, Noah and more. You are a HUGE part of our story! You are appreciated and we are so thankful to know each and every one of you. This was never a large record store. It was a 2,000 sft building that housed a music loving family.
To all the local, up and coming musicians, it was a pleasure to have you play here and share your talents with us and the people visiting the Stockyards. There are too many to name everyone, but just know that each amd every one of you has a special place in our heart. You are truly the heartbeat of the local music community. We want to thank all of the musicians that played the 1-4 Saturday slots over the years. We were lucky to have many talented artists. We want to give a special shout out to two bands that played down here every month for over a decade, Aurora Bleu and Salt Creek. You helped teach us that doing something you love, with people you love, can be more rewarding than the compensation. You were always worth much more to us! Thank you! Thank you Billy Roberts for ALWAYS showing up on short notice when we needed immediate coverage. You saved us so many times. Thank you! We love all of you!
If you know Chief Records, you know we liked to hold special events and we liked to party. Over the years, we were blessed to be able to host such acts as Johnny Bush, Tony Booth, Jason Eady, Courtney Patton, Randall King, BERLIN, Tommy Tutone, Wade Bowen, Kaitlin Butts, Randy Rogers Band, Cody Jinks, Randy Travis, Red Clay Strays, Asleep at the Wheel, Charley Crockett, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Taylor Hunnicutt, Tanner Usrey, Joshua Ray Walker, Blackberry Smoke, The Filthy Heathens, Ashland Craft, Silverada, Wade Forster, Kat Hasty, Jenna Paulette, Sh***un Rider, Treaty Oak Revival, Giovannie & The Hired Guns, Kayla Ray, Drayton Farley, Nolan Taylor, Bobbie Jean Brown, Austin Meade, Deryl Dodd and more! What a blessing it was to host these individuals and share them with our wonderful customers. We can't think these artists enough!
We will continue business as usual for the time being. We have the holiday shopping season ahead of us and the Spring Break rush. We will continue to host in stores from some of your favorite artists. If all goes well, we will go out with a giant bash with a full day of love music this Spring. Keep an eye on our website. We will continue to sell our legendary Chief Records merch and we will be adding many hot new pressings and presales in the near future. The website will be kept active, even after the physical store is gone. You never know what the future holds and Chief Records may ride again in the future.
As for now, we would love to see each and every one of you down here in the Stockyards. We love the Stockyards and it will always be a big piece of who we are. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
