What's up shooters? I saw today's gone is a group chat and had to do it. The Barrett MRAD (Multi-Role Adaptive Design) in 338 Lapua Magnum & all of my number with will reflect this caliber unless otherwise stated. Let’s begin with the price tag which is between $5,200 & $6,000 & hurts my pockets just to look at. The MRAD is produced in the USA & also chambered in 260 Rem, 338NM, 300NM, 300WM, 308WM, 7mm Rem Mag, & 6.5Creed. The barrel comes in three different lengths, 20”, 24”, and 26” when you are really trying to reach out there. If 308 is your flavor, it only comes in 17” & 22”. All of the other calibers come standard in 24” only. Now for why you are paying so much. The body is composed of 7000 series Aluminum making it lightweight at 14.7lbs & with the collapsible stock, you can shorten it’s 49.4” length to about 40.” taking some of the fatigue of carrying that monster & making a much more portable system. It uses a bolt action system of operation that is said to be very smooth compared to the Barrett 50 which requires a little effort & it’s difficult to maintain a sight picture at the same time. It’s ambidextrous for all of my lefties. The MRAD has a fully customizable match grade trigger which comes stock at 3lbs, but you can adjust it to your heart's content. One of the cooler features is customization of the barrels by the end user. All you need is a torque wrench to loosen two bolts on the receiver & swap out the barrel, not just for length, but for caliber as well. No gunsmith required. Accuracy is the name of the game when it comes to longbows & the MRAD is no exception. It’s rifling is 1: 9.4”RH & is capable of sub-MOA out to 1,000m. When I say “capable of,” I mean you have the marksmanship skills required. Don’t think you are just going pick one of these up & start slamming steels out at 1K. I say that to say this. This isn’t a beginners rifle. Definitely not for your average shooter. But if you are about that high angle life, that would be a functional addition to your arsenal. That’s all I got for this one. I’m always open to question & suggestions. So like always stay practical & Keep it Ballistic!
