I have seen a lot of posts on the various groups about the emails some sellers are getting about the shipping discount. I have my shipping set to give the buyer a 5% reduction on shipping. If eBay would drop the final value fee on shipping I might consider giving the buyer a better discount. I have a lot of smaller items set to free shipping but not on anything over a pound. Now that Mercari is not charging sellers a fee to sell I have actually sold more items there as I can discount the price knowing exactly what I will be making on the sale. I cash out on Mercari once a month and the $2 fee they are charging to transfer funds to your bank is nothing compared to the selling fees. Since the no seller fees has went into effect I am surprised that I have actually had more sales on that platform. Many sellers are getting fed up with eBay charging more and more fees while telling the sellers it is a benefit for them or that they have listened to the sellers and made whatever change. I have been selling on eBay since 1998 and have seen tons of changes over the years and most have not been a benefit for sellers. eBay customer service get worse each year and now I am told that CSR will not even manage feedback removal. It has become all automated by AI and if you submit a feedback request you get a form letter response. If I sell an item and shipping is ridicules I refund a portion to the buyer, and I have repeat buyers quite often. I guess we will have to see how this new change plays out but if you are a full time reseller like I am you should always be looking for and learning new platforms you can sell on. I have seen some resellers loose their account or get a permanent suspension for doing nothing wrong. With AI being integrated more and more into the platform I can see this happening more often.
