Several of you know Jackie has been dealing with some pretty serious health issues throughout her life, some of you may not because she doesn’t show it or talk about herself due to always focusing on others and their needs over her own. These past several weeks though her health has taken a turn for the worse and she simply can’t push through anymore. After multiple emergency room visits with really intense pain she was finally admitted to the hospital this week. She’s currently been in there for 3 days while the doctors continue running tests and trying to figure out exactly what’s going on. The medication they gave her from her ER visits has completely exhausted her, she wasn’t able to stand up and walk on her own without falling and her vision was blurred, her words were slurring and if you know Jackie and her strength you know that something is very wrong. Those symptoms were already happening and the medication magnified it to the point she wasn’t functioning right. Between the medication, testing and complete exhaustion she hasn’t been able to teach classes or work with clients the way she always has, it’s left her unable to show up and be herself.
This isn’t because she’s given up, it’s because her body is finally telling her it needs for her to stop, listen and allow it time to heal and gain strength back.
Running a small business takes a lot of work and heart and when you’re unable to work the bills don’t stop coming. They are always there for the business and on the home front both. Rent, utilities, payroll, payouts, inventory and every day expenses of keeping Acacias Journeys open continue, and without health insurance the medical bills that are going to be coming in is another overwhelming concern that’s been on her mind.
Asking for help has never come easy for her (those of you that know her know). In fact, it’s probably one of the hardest things she’s ever done but she also knows that Acacias Journeys has never been about one thing or one person - it’s about the community that we’ve built together - that she had in her heart when she created the shop.
If this little shop has ever made you feel seen, welcomed, accepted, or at home we’re asking, she’s asking you to help us protect it while she focuses on healing. Her goal isn’t simply to get through this, it’s to come back stronger and continue serving this community for years to come like she had planned when she opened Acacias.
