My love for the fiber arts began when I brought a few sheep into our family. This project sparked my journey into spinning, kni

tting, and eventually needle felting. The Romney sheep I own provide my favorite medium; I adore the texture of the wool and how effortlessly it blends to bring my animal sculptures to life. I constantly seek inspiration for my work—from the wild and photographs to my own beloved pets and farm animals. I started sculpting animals from wool in 2006, primarily using the fleece from my sheep. While I mainly create realistic animals, I’m increasingly inspired to develop whimsical designs from my imagination. The time I dedicate to sculpting each animal's face truly enhances the overall expression of my art. To fully appreciate my work, one must understand the needle felting process and the commitment required to achieve such intricate detail in wool. It brings me immense joy to know that my pieces are now part of private collections around the world!

This might be my cutest kit yet… 🦒

Meet the new Bear Creek Felting Giraffe Kit.

I designed this project to be approachable for beginners while still teaching important sculpting and shaping skills along the way.

Like all Bear Creek Felting kits, the wool comes from sheep raised on our North Dakota farm and is processed right here in our mill — from pasture to product.

I can’t wait to see the giraffes you create. ❤️

Out of all the materials they could have gathered, they chose wool to cushion and insulate their tiny home. And honestly, it makes perfect sense. Wool is warm, breathable, moisture-wicking, and naturally insulating - exactly what fragile eggs and baby birds need.

I think this may be the prettiest nest I’ve ever found, tucked into one of the hanging baskets at the shop. A little reminder that nature understood the value of wool long before we did. 🌿

Have you wanted to learn needle felting, but felt intimidated by where to begin?

Felt Your First Five™ was created especially for beginners and early-stage felters who want to build a strong foundation in a calm, supportive environment.

Join me in Fort Ransom, North Dakota for a 5-day retreat where we’ll create five progressive projects designed to build confidence step by step — from simple shapes and firmness to detail and expression.

* Fort Ransom, ND
* July 20–24, 2026
* Registration deadline: June 20

Retreat options include:
• All-inclusive lodging packages
• Workshop-only option
• Homemade meals by Libbie
• Wool raised on our own farm and processed in our fiber mill

This retreat is intentionally small and relaxed, with plenty of individual guidance and time to truly enjoy the process of learning.

If you’ve been dreaming about joining me for a retreat, this is a wonderful place to start.

A little porch planting today at the shop. 🌸🌿

I picked up these beautiful flowers from Backyard Roots Greenhouse and Giftshop LLC - if you haven’t been there yet, it’s absolutely worth the stop. Such a fun little greenhouse right outside Fort Ransom with so many gorgeous plants and gift ideas.

As I planted, I added our Bear Creek wool fertilizer pellets into the containers. 🐑
Made from our sheep’s wool, they slowly release nutrients, help hold moisture in the soil, and naturally break down over time. I love finding ways to use every part of what we raise here on the farm — from wool for felting… to wool helping flowers grow.

Now let’s hope I can keep everything alive through summer. 😅

“I’m not totally sure what my job is yet… but I know it has something to do with those sheep… and those barks out in the dark.” 🐾

Sound on for this one. ❤️

One of the most important jobs on our farm belongs to our livestock guardian dogs. Every bark means something, and the younger dogs learn by listening, watching, and growing into their instincts.

Dexter is just beginning to figure it all out.

Another healthy little one on the ground.

If you’ve been following along this lambing season, we’re almost there—
just 2 ewes left to go!

It all starts right here… every kit, every fiber, every project.

🚨 MOOSE SIGHTING: Thrill Hills Ski Area 🚨

Okay… why am I the only one seeing this guy around town??
First Main Street, now he’s hanging out on the slopes at Thrill Hills.
I caught him standing in the grass, peeking around corners, and even checking out the brand-new facility like he’s ready to buy a season pass.

Has anyone else spotted him? Or is he just following me?? 👀

He seems friendly enough — always curious, always smiling… but still has that startled look in his eyes. 👀
Be careful though… moose are dangerous.

📢 Share this sighting to warn the neighbors — who knows where he’ll turn up next.
