Celebrate the seasons as the spirit of art unfolds via landscape & still life pieces as well as in collections of brush painting, paper cut & illuminary artwork. If you'd like to come in other than Saturday mornings, please call 518.478.5629 to make an appointment. After March 15, we'll resume normal hours.

This horrific chaos took place yesterday afternoon at the high school directly across the street from Roosevelt Public Library where our daughter is the librarian. Many students were going to the library for safety. Do you know where your children are.....are they safe.....can any of us feel safe throughout the country with this type of bedlam being unleashed? In the rural landscape of the Mohawk Valley, are we insulated from all of this.....I think not.....everything and everyone is connected. We must remain mindful of what has become acceptable behavior and decide within ourselves who we are, what we are......how we can choose to honor each other as human beings whether it be our family, our neighbor, people across our nation or people throughout the world..... our actions, our words affect not just us, but everyone and everything. Right now in our nation, the "powers that be" are abusing, misusing, vilifying this privilege and prompting others to do their bidding.....and this chaos is the result.....acceptable behavior......I THINK NOT!

Greetings on this snowy day!!

Open hours at the Canal Street Studio this afternoon have been CANCELLED due to this beautiful yet constant snowfall.

For those who have not yet shared in this seasonal event, The Canal Street Studio will be open this week Wednesday and Thursday, 1 to 4 pm, as originally scheduled for the viewing of Joanne's special "Paintings For All Seasons" art show........open by appointment thereafter until the next special event.

An extended stay in Minneapolis from mid October through early December 2024 began a challenging winter season for Chris and me.....BUT....here we are enjoying the glorious renewal of a beautiful Spring season in the Mohawk Valley!! Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude!!!!

Welcoming our granddaughter's arrival in Minneapolis was a true gift as we unexpectedly needed to stabilize a medical emergency for Chris. Now, as our granddaughter grows and giggles, her parents blossom with love, and Chris continues to heal successfully, we look to Springtime with happy hearts!!

Needless to say, my plans for a Holiday Open House in November/December 2024 did not come to fruition due to our unforeseen circumstances....as well as snow, snow, snow!!! It is my hope to revive those plans in part by inviting you to come visit the Canal Street Studio in April 2025!!

As you may remember, the gift shop of Fair Trade, sustainably made artisan items is being phased out of the Canal Street Studio, while my artwork will be the single focus of the Studio spaces. I will be opening the Studio gallery and gift shop the following days and times in hopes that you will stop by, visit and shop the beautiful Fair Trade artisan gift items for the last time, while enjoying my artwork as well!

89th Annual National
Juried Art Exhibition


The 89th Annual National
is a Juried Art Exhibition organized and produced by the Cooperstown Art Association and open to all fine artists in the country. The show encompasses a wide range of media including drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, etc. Our 2024 Juror, Thomas Sarrantonio, selected 131 entries from across the United States to create an eclectic and stimulating show. This year, we are proud to have 18 states and 123 individual artists represented in our National Exhibition. In addition to the National Exhibition, we will be announcing this year’s 2024 CAA Art Scholarship Award winner during the awards presentation! The 89th Annual National Exhibition will be on display in all three galleries of the CAA from July 12th through August 16th during our Gallery Hours, Tuesday - Saturday from 11am - 4pm. The event is sponsored by The Scriven Foundation and made possible through the generous support of our members and patrons

There will be a Gallery Talk & Tour at 4pm on Friday, July 12, prior to the start of the Opening Reception, with Juror Thomas Sarrantonio. Please arrive prior to 4pm if you would like to attend the Gallery Talk & Tour.

The opening of the 89th Annual National Juried Art Exhibition at Cooperstown Art Association Galleries, Cooperstown, NY, is coming up soon! Show dates are July 12th through August 16th.
416 entries from around the nation were submitted with 131 works chosen to create a diverse and exciting exhibit for the public to enjoy! Joanne's watercolor entitled "Artist Pointe, Yellowstone" hangs alongside other pieces from local artists and artists from across the U.S.A., all highlighting dynamic artistic expression.
