Happy Extraterrestrial Culture Day!

Here are some alien kite pics we found on the internet to help celebrate this day. These are not our kites.

An officially acknowledged day in New Mexico (Roswell), Extraterrestrial Culture Day celebrates extraterrestrial cultures, and our past, present and future relationships with these intergalactic beings.

Get the kettle on and set the table for a guest, ET might just be popping round! Or fly an Alien kite!!

No drones here! This photo was taken with a GoPro mounted to 7ft Rokkaku kite at the Treasure Island Kite Festival several years back.

Took this photo with a GoPro mounted to a 7ft rokkaku kite. Perfect day for KAP (kite aerial photography).

Happy Bird Day!

Here are some of our favorite bird kite photos that we found on the internet to help celebrate this day. These are not our kites.

History of Bird Day
In 1894, Charles Almanzo Babcock, the superintendent of schools in Oil City, Pennsylvania, declared the first holiday in the United States to celebrate birds. Babcock's intent was to advance bird conservation as a moral value and it seems that his holiday caught on. Babcock’s Bird Day is actually what is now known as International Migratory Bird Day, although it isn’t actually related to Bird Day in terms of history. Bird Day marked the end of the annual Christmas Bird Count in the mid-21st century.

However, it does seem that Bird Day is at least dedicated in part to raising awareness about birds in captivity. Presumably that includes your Aunt Marjorie’s macaw, the penguins in the Miami Zoo, and that turkey that made the ultimate sacrifice to grace your family’s dinner table on Thanksgiving. There’s also a website at Bird Day, if you want to learn more about the folks actually promoting the holiday.

How to Celebrate Bird Day
Fly a bird kite...that is all:)
