🔥 A Detroit Legend Since 1956: The Story of Vicki’s Bar-B-Q! 🔥

Did you know the iconic Vicki’s Bar-B-Q originally started as a diner called Loretta’s? Founded by Fairfield and Vicki Butler, this beloved Motor City staple has a history as rich as its legendary barbecue sauce!

Here’s a look back at their incredible journey:

🍤 From Shrimp to Ribs: After running "Loretta's" and later "Vicki’s Shrimp Hut," the Butlers officially launched Vicki’s Bar-B-Q in 1964. The addition of their now-famous charcoal-grilled pork spareribs changed the game forever!

🍅 That Legendary Sauce: Word on the street is that a loyal customer raved about the ribs but suggested a tweak to the sauce. She shared her family’s recipe, and after some fine-tuning, Vicki’s famous sweet tomato and vinegar sauce was born. It was so good, it hit local supermarket shelves in 1965!

🌟 Star-Studded Patrons: Vicki’s has fed Detroit royalty and beyond! Legends like Aretha Franklin, KEM, Tommy Hearns, and soul singer Johnnie Taylor (whose sister used to pick up curbside orders in a Rolls Royce! 🚗✨) have all been fans. Anthony Bourdain even stopped by for Parts Unknown in 2013!

🙌 The Legacy Continues: After decades of family operation—including a dedicated 35-year run by their son, Dennis—Vicki’s is now led by veteran restaurateur Barry Winfree. He is dedicated to preserving the original recipes and keeping the Butler family's rich history alive.
