Ever cut yourself shaving? Alum sticks are generally more like a crayon. You use the same stick over and over again and eventually it wears down. I personally think that's gross and unsanitary. These match sticks are disposable. My husband uses them but so do I! I actually had my lip split (thank you to the desert) and I used it to stop the bleeding. Warning-----It does burn when applied, but it works!! When you are done... throw it out!
