Rock ‘N’ Robin has Left
the Building!
You would think I’d have had plenty of time to think about this and write something really eloquent, but I’m afraid it just hasn’t happened that way. In fact, I would venture to say this last chapter was written with so many co-authors, I feel like I wasn’t entirely in control. And that’s okay, too.
I have had the great good fortune to have been in the position to get on the ground floor of Colorado’s medical and then recreational ma*****na revolution. I was able to open Elite Organics inside of Rock ‘N’ Robin’s, CD’s Records ‘N’ Tapes in 2008, and have the best of both worlds. We opened for recreational mj as soon as the city allowed. It was the Wild West out here for a while. It was exciting to be on the cutting edge of change in the ma*****na laws, and still be rocking the record store, too.
Last December, I was made an offer I would be foolish to refuse, and I have sold the dispensary. With all the government rules and requirements, it’s taken this long to grind the sale through. Now it’s complete. The new owners wanted all of the space in my building to expand the ma*****na business, so I decided to close Rock ‘N’ Robin’s, and retire.
I am eternally grateful to so many people for bringing me to this moment and supporting me along the way. From the tide of tourists and students in Colorado and Illinois, to the many employees over the years, and especially the rockers and shakers (and Tweed Mummert!) of the community of Macomb and the surrounding towns who launched the business, there were so many special people without whom I wouldn’t have made it at all, much less be in a position to actually comfortably retire and enjoy myself. You know who you are!
I have loved being in the music industry. I always said that when the albums went, I would go, too. Thank you all so very much for making my shop successful. I am forever grateful.
If you were a supporter, and want a memento,
