🚨Late post🚨

First competition of the year is officially in the books, and man… what a way to start it. We rolled into Panther Island Pavillon in Fort Worth for the long‑awaited return of the Cowtown Cookoff & Music Festival, hosted by the Fort Worth Cops 4 Kids, and this competition did NOT disappoint, drawing 56 championship caliber teams.

The vibe was electric — music, crowds, smoke rolling in the air — exactly the kind of atmosphere you want when you’re kicking off a new season. We locked in, cooked our cook, and here’s how it shook out:

🐔 4th Place Chicken
🐖 13th Place Ribs
🐮 No‑Call Brisket (she stayed sleeping this weekend)
🔥 8th Place Overall

Not the perfect cook, but a damn strong start to the year and a great way to knock the dust off.

Huge shoutout to the FWPOA, the Outlaw BBQ Association, and Laura and Judy for running a smooth judging area. Also huge congratulations to Aj George with Okie Folks Barbecue on his GC and the birthday boy Brian Colter with Rope and Choke Competition Bbq Team on his RGC. Was blessed to get the chance to go cook this weekend at El Dorado Chevrolet McKinney Texas. Huge thank you to James Page with Patriot BBQ 903 for suppling us with drums and everything to cook, even being the real reason why we were able to take home 4th in the Rib Cook Off Association competition on Friday night. Thank you to Laura, Judy, Walker abd Terry for running such a smooth judging area. Kevin Perry and company host such a great competition. I still have no clue what judges in McKinney want haha here’s how we placed

What an eventful weekend, still tired from it all. We headed down south to the Texas Motorplex in Ennis to compete at the always difficult Jambo Pits Bar-B-Que Shootout hosted by Jamie Geer. This competition drew teams from Washington, Oklahoma , Louisiana and all over Texas. Our Saturday didn’t start off good with a flat tire on the trailer and with that putting us behind on loading in we still had to hurry up and get back for Avery’s HoCo stuff. When back at the track we settled in with the smell of race fuel in the air, drag racing and one helluva lantern show and concert. Sundays cook was smooth but any cook will tell you that’s never a good thing…..here’s the results of the cook.

This was good enough to be named Reserve Grand Champion in a field of 64 bad ass teams!

Huge congratulations to Aaron Lesley on being named Grand Champion. Glad to finally share the stage with you brotha!

I want to thank Jamie Geer for hosting such an amazing competition and paying over $20k in payouts. Also want to thank the whole Outlaw BBQ association judges for running a smooth judging area. This one has been a long time coming I was able to get my first and win a Jambo charcoal grill. I appreciate all of my who has texted, messaged and congratulated me at the comp it truly means a lot to me! Also want to thank my wife and best friend Abbie who is always by my side in this crazy , can’t forget my friend Bud Brown on the help this past week also.
