Savannah San putting in the work today! Small mud pond but big koi. The whole side of the mountain trail was covered in a beautiful moss which made it hard to drive up to. The walk is very far. Great job Savy!

This brightly colored Yamamatsu sanke born in 2022 is rather small for its age but has grown 5 centimeters since June.

Daytime temps have been 35C and higher all week but the water is in the low 20s thanks to our flow through and shade cloth. Our big koi definitely do not like really warm (or really cold) water.

Tancho kohaku is probably my favorite variety but it's a variey that is notorious for "blushing" (turning slightly pink) when under stress or in an unfamiliar environment. Very rare indeed is the tancho kohaku that looks as white in the show vat as it does in the pond. This particular koi is our only tancho kohaku and was bred by Torazo. Born in 2021, it's now 73 cm.
