One of the things we hear most often is, "I've always wanted to learn Mahjong, but it looks too complicated."

Honestly? We get it.

At first glance, Mahjong can feel a little intimidating. There are tiles, cards, rules, and a table full of people who seem to know exactly what's going on. But every single person at our tables started exactly where you are now.

Mahjong 101 is designed for complete beginners. We'll teach you how the game works, explain the tiles, walk through real hands, answer questions, and help you feel comfortable enough to actually sit down and play.

What starts as learning a game often turns into something more. A new hobby. New friends. A reason to get out of the house and try something different.

Class is Saturday, June 6 at 10am, and we keep it small so everyone gets plenty of attention. There are only 4 spots available.

$40 includes instruction, a 2026 National Mahjong League Card, and one of our gameplay walkthrough guides so you'll have everything you need to keep playing after class.

If you see us this week and we seem a little emotional, there's a reason.

Andrea is going home today.

Ten months ago we picked up a teenager from Italy. Since then we've survived soccer games, road trips, card games, family dinners, vacations, and approximately one million memories. Somewhere along the way he stopped being "our exchange student" and just became one of ours.

The thing nobody tells you when you host is that you spend a year watching someone become part of your family and then one day you have to take them to the airport.

Frankly, we're not fans of that part.

So tonight we're having Makers Night from 4–9pm. It's free. Bring a project, bring a friend, bring something to keep your hands busy while we all collectively pretend we're handling today better than we actually are.

Then one day you’re carrying a Mahjong card in your purse, discussing strategy over lunch, and looking forward to a Monday.

Funny how that happens.
