Introducing RockLab x AJN

Many of you have heard of our FIRE program…

We’re excited to announce its next evolution: RockLab!

RockLab is a semester-long music experience designed for students who want to play with other musicians, build confidence, and experience what it’s like to perform in a band.

Here’s how it works:

Students meet Saturday afternoons each week in a collaborative group of 15–20 musicians. Throughout the semester, they’ll play in a variety of band combinations, rotating through songs and roles while learning from one another, all leading up to a live performance at the end.

RockLab isn’t just about learning songs.

It’s about making friends, encouraging one another, gaining real performance experience, and surrounding yourself with other young musicians who love music as much as you do.

Twenty years...

It's hard to believe A Joyful Noise Music Studio has been serving our community since 2006.

Over the last two decades, we've had the privilege of watching thousands of students walk through our doors. Some came to prepare for their first recital. Others joined bands, led worship, studied music in college, became music teachers themselves, or simply discovered a lifelong love of playing.

Some of our students are now adults with families of their own. Some are bringing *their* children to lessons. That's pretty incredible.

As we looked back through old photos, we couldn't help but smile at all the memories, friendships, and milestones that music has created over the years.

Music has a way of connecting us—to ourselves, to our families, to our faith, and to the people around us. We're grateful to have been a small part of so many musical journeys over the past 20 years.

Give it up for Reid!

Reid has been a part of the A Joyful Noise family for years, and it’s been incredible to watch his growth as a drummer. From performing with our Student Rock Band to taking the stage at recitals year after year, he’s a great example of what consistent practice and perseverance can accomplish.

If you’ve ever met Reid, you know he brings plenty of energy—and that’s not a bad quality for a drummer! 😄 More importantly, he keeps showing up, putting in the work, and challenging himself to become a better musician every year.

We’re also thankful to have instructors like Asa leading the way. Asa brings years of experience as a performing musician, session drummer, worship leader, and music instructor. His passion for music and his heart for mentoring students make him an incredible teacher, and we’re grateful for the example he sets for young musicians like Reid.

Keep it up, Reid! We can’t wait to see what the next chapter of your musical journey holds.

🎶 Guess who’s back… back again… 🎶

That’s right… Aaron is back at A Joyful Noise Music Studio!

Many of our longtime students may remember Aaron from a few years ago. After taking some time away to focus on raising his family, we’re excited to welcome him back to the teaching team!

Aaron teaches piano, drums, guitar, bass, harmonica, and even steel drum! He’s performed with multiple bands, has years of teaching experience, and brings a wealth of musical knowledge to every lesson.

But as excited as we are about his experience, that’s not what we’re most excited about.

Aaron has a genuine heart for teaching and sharing music with others. He believes, just like we do, that music is about more than learning notes and chords—it’s about building confidence, creating meaningful connections, and bringing people together.

That passion is exactly what A Joyful Noise Music Studio is all about, and we’re thrilled to have him back as part of the team.

At first glance, it might not look like much work is getting done.

Nick teaches lessons, Ian manages the store, Jake keeps things running smoothly at the front desk, and Dylan—who primarily works out of our Great Lakes location—is one of our go-to repair technicians. Today, though, they all found themselves gathered around checking out Ian’s new guitar.

Truth be told… this is part of the job.

Some of the best ideas, conversations, and learning happen when musicians simply get together. Whether they’re talking gear, sharing techniques, swapping stories from gigs, or passing around a guitar, these moments make all of us better musicians—and better teachers.

One of the things we love most is seeing our different locations work together. While everyone has a different role and may work from different stores, we’re all on the same team. By sharing ideas, helping one another, and learning from each other, we’re able to provide an even better experience for every student and customer who walks through our doors.

That’s the kind of culture we’re committed to building—a place where musicians don’t just come for lessons or repairs, but where they find encouragement, friendship, and a community that shares their passion for music.

(Although… we probably should’ve waited until everyone looked a little busier before snapping the picture.)
