New project just hit the floor!

Beautiful antique refinished with fresh stain and a pop of color. 🩵 This piece came to us with a busted drawer that needed some TLC, luckily we got her fixed and she works like new! Original hardware with a new color. We love these projects! Great bones.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. This year’s theme is Celebrating Value and Talent and is also the 80th anniversary! The theme is perfect, it focuses on skills, contributions, and achievements made by people with disabilities. Here at The Corner Store and between all Community Employment locations, we employ 32 adults who have disabilities, with 4 of those people working in their community! Each bringing their own set of skills, personalities, and most of all, talents! We love each and every one of our individuals and are so proud of their accomplishments. We hope this month inspires you to practice inclusion, be open to equal opportunities, and raise awareness/advocate for Individuals with Disabilities.

Good morning everyone. We would like to take a moment to acknowledge Kevin's progress as Kevin and Melessia are out mowing this beautiful morning.

Kevin has always been eager to mow alongside our Mobile Crew here at the Corner Store, but he needed a little help to develop the necessary skills. As Community Employment staff, we have worked with Kevin, and over the past year he has acquired those vital skills. He has learned about safety procedures, equipment operation, and maintenance, as well as how to operate the push mower and w**d eater. Kevin has become skilled in these areas and now assists with landscaping at The Braun Home homes with a little less supervision. This is a significant achievement, and we are proud of Kevin's accomplishments.

We also extend our gratitude to Melessia, our store manager, for guiding Kevin and providing him with opportunities to learn and build his self-esteem.
