This year I had a lot of fun starting a journey learning glass. I’m looking to lots more fun in 2026. I already have classes scheduled at NC State Craft Center, Warm Glass in Clemmons and the ECU GlasStation right here in Farmville! Going to be a busy winter for me!!

It’s been a busy fall but I’ve enjoyed dabbling in some glass. This fabric like piece is made with about 400 tiny spaghetti like glass stringers that are assembled to look like fabric and then fused together in the kiln. The edges are quite fragile and i had some slippage but I’m happy with how this first attempt worked out.

Join us on the Library patio (facing Truist Bank) on June 10th at 10am for a torchworking demonstration led by Mike Tracy of ECU's The GlasStation!

Torchworking, also called Flameworking or Lampworking, is a process of working glass where the artisan manipulates the glass in a bench mounted torch. The process has predominantly been used to create glass devices for scientific or industrial purposes, but has also been adopted by crafts people and artists. In this demonstration Mike Tracy will show off the process by making a simple vessel while talking about the contemporary history of glass art.
