The other day at City Hall, I overheard a tour guide telling a group of students that Farmington was once nicknamed the “City of Roses”.

That story stayed with me as I walked through our fields this morning, checking for the first emerging dahlia shoots. While our focus is the dahlia, that legacy of cultivation and beauty in our local soil is something I feel deeply connected to.

That’s exactly why I put together the Vase Life Vanguard Collection. These aren’t just the “pretty faces” of the farm; they are the reliable anchors of the garden. The dahlias and I are tight at this point in the season, figuratively and literally. The plants are bursting with abundance and with that they are encroaching on my 18 inch wide pathways so we are always touching- but I wouldn’t have any other way.

Utah Flower Day was August 16th and it was so great to host a gathering on the farm to candidly share my favorite varieties, tips on how to grow dahlias and the behind the scene activities necessary to produce our exceptional product.
