Incredibly excited for the opportunities Amanda Gorman is getting. Her books don’t come out for months and they are already best sellers. Now she’s signing with IMG models 🥰

IMG will help the poet with editorial endorsements meaning we will see Gorman front facing and leading a lot more campaigns.

I honestly didn’t think I’d cry today. It was a “waiting to exhale” more than anything. But it’s the symbolism throughout the inauguration that makes me teary eyed.

Finding out VP Kamala Harris, Michelle Obama, and Hillary Clinton all wore purplish colors because it’s for women’s equality hit me in my heart. AND Kamala was giving a nod to the first black woman that ran for President, Shirley Chisholm who wore purple on her campaign fliers. Kamala also wore an outfit designed by a black designer, Christopher John Rogers. And realizing Michelle Obama was wearing Sergio Hudson, also a black designer was such amazing feeling.

And let’s not forget the inauguration poem was from Amanda Gorman, the youngest inaugural poet in US history, who is a black woman with a speech impediment. And we mustn’t forget that Eugene Goodman the black capitol officer that used himself as bait during the white house siege, escorted Kamala Harris.

All of it leaves me with the warm and fuzzies and I teared up for the sign of change.

It’s almost like...this year...black is the new orange 🥰

I’ve been silent lately. I’m gonna be honest. I couldn’t pretend to care about anything else other than what was necessary.

My mom was diagnosed with skin cancer. Within 24 hours, she was then told she may also have breast cancer.

We have been in limbo. She had the skin cancer cut out, a somewhat easy fix. She had the mass removed from her breast and tested. And then we waited.

I was nervous about having a surgical procedure during a pandemic. And she had to go in twice.

During this to have my son’s 10th birthday party, was a task. I had to give all my energy to focusing on them and to remain somewhat chill.

While there are some abnormalities that they will be keeping an eye on, I have the privilege to say that my mom does not have cancer.

But I know someone personally that did not get the same good news. And so many dont get to do the happy dance of relief.

I will be working on something for this reason. Keep an eye out ❤️

Post from 2018: It’s actually really hard finding models with diversity like I’ve been looking for. They’ve been told their whole lives they arent good enough, aren’t pretty enough, aren’t able enough, aren’t thin enough, aren’t young enough, aren’t light enough, aren’t straight enough. That’s the stigma I’m trying to break.

I had to get a model to come from Wisconsin because I was specifically looking for someone with cerebral palsy (for personal reasons) to feature in my line because no one that I knew would. I reached out on IG and this lovely soul drove all the way here for the shoot.

I take models by volunteer basis first. But it was difficult making sure that I had tall, short, all different races, straight size, plus size, in between both, straight, gay, trans, with scars, tattoos, different abilities. It was hard. I had to ask friends and strangers to round it out the way I wanted.

I want everyone to know, in a world of tall thin models, there is a place for you. I preferred not to talk about it because the point wasn’t to make it this huge deal that I was featuring different models, the point was to normalize it. These big companies are “hopping on the bandwagon” because one big company took a “risk” and got a lot of praise (which equals a lot of PR) ...so all the others want a piece of that praise.

I didn’t want my company to be that. I wanted it to be the norm from the get go. I chose not to start this line until I could afford to get straight and plus size because it was important. I knew from the beginning what I wanted.

I HATED myself as a child. I would cry because my scar was ugly and no one would ever love me. I don’t want other people thinking that.

I overcame that and loved myself. I got those modeling jobs. I went to Chicago and tried out for Top Model. This is my story on my chest, I won’t let it stop me from doing anything.

And I don’t want anyone else’s differences to ever make them feel that way because they don’t see people like them. My plan is to do the best I can to feature all the different people of this lovely world. People have a lot to offer. Why only feature one kind?

RBG would be proud ❤️

Up and at em! *FINALLY* finding some cute plus size clothing.

FashionGo is one of the marketplaces I use. That $15.50 is per ITEM not per pack. So yes, if I buy this, it’s costing me $15.50 an item. And that’s without shipping that can get very pricey!

Someone, somewhere put it in people’s minds that wholesale is very inexpensive. That buyers can get items $1-$5. This is not the case if you are buying through a marketplace like FashionGo (where FashionGo charges the vendors) and you want quality products.

I can go through to each vendor’s personal website but that means applying and uploading business info each and every time to get a 12% price cut. It’s not worth it to me when that’s so much extra time and you have to wait to be approved. And with Covid, trade shoes are closed.

I want to be transparent about why my prices are the way they are. I want you to know where to look if you have a boutique and aren’t sure where to start because that was one of the most stressful issues for me.

This is a good price for cardigan. It’s actually cute plus size clothing (it has been a SERIOUS struggle finding some). I’m excited because it has the straight size *and* the plus size! Love being able to provide the same item in many sizes!

They are priced differently but you know I don’t play that game. The price will be averaged so everyone pays the same.

Getting the new styles up soon and I’m excited!
