Some neighborhoods just have that tucked-away magic. ✨

Nestled between the beautiful neighborhoods of Sleepy Hollow and Lake Barcroft in Falls Church, you’ll find Congressional School — a sweet little private school surrounded by some of the prettiest, most peaceful neighborhoods in Northern Virginia.

My daughter takes riding lessons here once a week and I am always floored by how gorgeous it is!

Fun fact I was a camp counselor here as a kid 🤣

This pocket of Falls Church has that “feels like the country” charm… mature trees, winding roads, larger lots, quiet streets, and a slower pace — but with easy access into Washington, DC, Arlington, Tysons, and everything Northern Virginia has to offer.

And whether your family is looking for private school options or public school options, the bigger picture is this:

Falls Church living just feels different. 🏡

It’s small-town vibes with big-city access.
It’s kids riding bikes, neighborhood walks, local coffee runs, parks, community, and convenience all wrapped into one.

If you’ve been dreaming about a place that feels tucked away but still connected, this area might be exactly what you’re looking for.

You don’t move to Falls Church for a ZIP code. You move for the lifestyle. ✨

Yes, the schools are excellent.

Yes, the proximity to Washington DC is hard to beat.

Yes, the job opportunities in the Northern Virginia suburbs are incredible.

But what truly sets Falls Church apart is the way life feels here.

It’s the small-town charm.
The walkability.
The sense of community.
The local shops, coffee spots, restaurants, parks, and neighborhood events.
The feeling that you can park your car on the weekend and walk to almost everything you need.

And if you’re raising kids here? It’s special.

Whether you’re in Falls Church City or the Falls Church Fairfax County side, there’s a strong sense of connection that’s hard to find this close to DC.

It can feel like a private school community — but with incredible public school options, including the Meridian High School pyramid.

That’s the magic of Falls Church.

You’re close to Arlington, McLean, Vienna, Alexandria, and Washington DC… but still surrounded by that rare neighborhood feeling people are searching for when they start thinking about buying in Virginia, buying in Falls Church, or selling in Falls Church.

If you’re trying to figure out the difference between Falls Church City, Falls Church Fairfax County, and the surrounding Northern Virginia neighborhoods…

This may be controversial, but does anyone else wish neighborhoods in Falls Church, Arlington, and McLean were still being built like this one — with character homes mixed in, not just another new build?

To be clear, I’m not knocking the big new construction — those seven-bedroom homes serve a real need, and the price point per square foot is honestly fantastic for a lot of families. I just wish builders were creating more streets like this one too, where you get a sweet brick character home with a front porch and a little charm, right alongside them.

This is why I love the pockets of Falls Church, North Arlington, and McLean where homes like this are still standing — wraparound porches, mismatched roof lines, the kind of street that feels like a neighborhood instead of a subdivision.

I Googled my symptoms and turns out…

I don’t need another scroll session.
I need to turn off my phone, get outside, and explore Northern Virginia. 🌿✨

Because spring is here, summer is right around the corner, and there is truly no better time to wander through the Washington DC suburbs and remember why this area is so special.

Take a walk through Falls Church, Virginia — my hometown — where the sidewalks feel familiar, the coffee shops are cozy, the local boutiques are full of charm, and the community still has that small-town heartbeat just outside the city.

Spend a Saturday in Arlington grabbing brunch, strolling a neighborhood park, or imagining what life could look like if you were moving to Arlington.

Head to Alexandria for cobblestone streets, waterfront views, historic homes, and that magical “I could live here” feeling.

Drive through McLean or Vienna and you’ll find tree-lined streets, storybook homes, family-friendly neighborhoods, farmers markets, parks, and that slower suburban rhythm so many people are craving when relocating to the area.

This is the thing about Northern Virginia…

You can read all the blogs, scroll all the listings, and Google every “best Washington DC suburb” list out there — but nothing replaces actually getting out and feeling the neighborhoods for yourself.

The charm.
The community.
The morning walks.
The playgrounds.
The local shops.
The homes with character.
The feeling of, “Wait… this could be home.”

So if you’re moving to Falls Church, moving to Arlington, or exploring Falls Church, Alexandria, McLean, Vienna, and the Northern Virginia suburbs outside Washington DC — go wander.

Turn off your phone.
Get outside.
Explore the neighborhoods.
And pay attention to the place that makes you feel like you belong. 🏡💛

Comment GUIDE and I’ll send you my Northern Virginia lifestyle guide with the best neighborhoods and towns outside Washington, DC for moving from DC into the suburbs.

Thinking about moving to Northern Virginia? Here’s what nobody tells you about these five suburbs. 🏡

It’s the question I get asked more than almost any other: is Falls Church the right place for my family, or should we be looking at Arlington, McLean, Vienna, Alexandria? Every one of these towns has a completely different feel, and picking blind is how people end up settling somewhere that doesn’t actually fit their life.

I’m a Falls Church native — 40+ years in this market, not a transplant who learned the map. I’ve lived in Sleepy Hollow, I live in Broadmont now, and I’ve helped buyers land in all five of these communities for the right reasons, not just the first one that popped up on Zillow.

So I put together my Northern Virginia Lifestyle Guide to walk you through it honestly: what Falls Church City vs. Falls Church actually means, whether McLean is worth the price, where people go when they get priced out of Arlington, and which of these Northern Virginia suburbs are the most walkable near DC. No fluff, just the real tradeoffs.

Wherever you land, the goal is the same — find the community that feels like home and matches the lifestyle you actually want to live.
