Brian Janey services pianos in a wide variety of settings from the pianos in the home to local concert venues and jazz festivals to churches, schools in and around Northern San Diego and Southwest Riverside Counties. He servicing and appraising pianos in Northern San Diego and Southwestern Riverside counties for over 25 years, has several hundred private clients and a number of schools districts,

churches and concert venues has been working with for many years. Valuation and appraisal services are available for those wishing to buy or sell a piano or need appraisal for tax donation, estate or insurance scheduling for replacement value. He is a qualified appraiser, as defined by the IRS. Brian takes care of all models and makes of the acoustic piano and never stops learning. He attends annual training put together by the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) and technical staff with all the major piano makers including Steinway, Yamaha, Kawai, Baldwin, Fazioli, Bosendorfer and Schimmel just to name a few. He specialized in the care for the Yamaha Disklavier player piano and other digital player piano systems. Brian is familiar with dozens of piano teachers in his area of service and is pleased to offer referrals. He is an insured, full-time piano technician.

Never put a piano in a garage or out building - even for just a few days! This is a lovely European upright. A local real estate agent told its owner, to better show her house, the piano needed to moved to the garage for a spell so the living room “looked bigger” - and this happened 😬 The damage was reversed, but it took some time and wasn’t inexpensive. I’ve seen pianos totaled by being moved to the garage for a couple weeks so the flooring can be installed. The mice will move in!

My presentation at the Piano Technicians Guild Convention this year was an absolute blast! As part of the class we do a game show - “The Price is Right” and I do my best Bob Barker impression - Come on Down! - with awesome prizes (from various trade vendors) and a whole lotta laughs. A lot of learning happened too about what piano techs need to know about the world of appraisal.
