Make sure you get to Creamers Field to see the cranes and stop by the Crane Festival running through Sunday. It won’t be long before we see the ducks and geese also getting ready to leave.

It's back to school with slow fashion this week! Did you know we have an entire room of vintage and retro clothing? Peony People this weekend will be the last opportunity to pick up floral bouquets from the store - Sat. 11-6 & Sunday 12-4. These folks were visiting from Oklahoma, and were home sick for their peonies. They bought a vase, and arranged their bouquet while they were here to take to their hotel. They’re only in Fairbanks for one day and then will be traveling with their bouquet all over Alaska to the different hotels. She has 75 plants at home that were done blooming by Mother’s Day!🌸 Home sweet home l, away from home - have a wonderful time visiting the state folks!

Our partnership between Northern Lights Peonies and Blue Door Antiques has brought us and many of our customers a lot of joy this year. Thanks to those who come in weekly or throughout the peony season.

Kim and John Herning at Northern Lights Peonies have been farming these lovely flowers since 2012–growing about 33,000 stems a year.

Most of the flowers head out across the world , but Fairbanks benefits from this industry by making available a portion of the peonies to us at an amazingly inexpensive price.

Kim and John are quite a good pair- John does the farming stuff and Kim has the talent to arrange amazing flower displays . Here are some photos of some of her displays including a peony dress and a display she has done for our iconic actual Blue Door.

This weekend is the last time this year to purchase peonies from us. We look forward to next summer for more amazing natural beauty.

August is a time of transition and time to get organized for fall. We have a number of small furniture pieces to help with that. A beautiful tall dresser(also known as a longerie chest $165, woven oriental style nightstands (pair) $120, a barrel wooden side table $75, a really wonderful oak square barley twist leg and pie crust top table $195, a sturdy pine solid wood dresser $149, and finally a 1960’s military mahogany night stand (you might be looking for one of these) $170. Oh and do you need a big wooden Barber pole? We have one. Blue door Antiques 315 Illinois/ park in the back off Illinois. 11am-6pm Tuesday-Friday, Sunday 12-4 pm/. Closed Monday.
