Offering from our family farm in Northern California: fleece, roving, yarn, hand-spun, hand-woven, hand-knit, heirloom garments. Alpaca, Merino, & Angora.

In 1996, Gabrielle came home one day with a spinning wheel and told her mother, “I want to get 4 sheep: a black one, a white one, a brown one, and a gray one.” Her mother enthusiastically responded, “No, no, no! You want to get alpacas!” “Al-a-what?” Within a few months, Gabrielle was bottle raising her first lamb and her mother bought her first alpacas. After raising a menagerie of fiber-prod

ucing animals over the years, Gabrielle settled her focus on breeding naturally colored merinos and French Angora rabbits. Her mother, Cheryl Woods of Fanfare Farms, continued with alpacas. Raising the animals and spinning a variety of fibers has given Gabrielle a unique perspective on what is desirable in a fleece and which yarns are best suited for specific end uses. This knowledge and experience has resulted in her earning top awards in both local and national fiber arts competitions, is a sought-after instructor, and fleece/fiber judge. Spin, weave, knit, crochet, felt, dye – she does it all. Gabrielle has served on the Board of Directors of the Northern California Angora Guild and for the National Angora Rabbit Breeders Club. She is also a past-President of the Lambtown USA Festival. In 2007, she attended the Camelid Fiber Sorting and Grading Certification course, and completed the Camelid Fiber Classer Course in 2011 through Olds College in Alberta, Canada. She owned and operated FiberWise Mill doing custom fiber processing. In 2016, she became of one of first Alpaca Owners Association Accredited Spin-Off Judge.

Fresh off the needles! My from-our-ranch 100% merino wool mill spun yarn. The perfectly imperfect texture of this yarn gives such character to this stockinette. Natural creamy white; not bleached, not dyed.

Yarn: Fanfare Farms & The Loom Room Lot 2160. 2.5oz, 110yd, $15/skein. 9 skeins
Pattern: Knitting Plain and Simple "Neckdown Pullover for Women" (modified bottom to be 2x2 rib). Size 4 needles, Size 2 or rib and cuffs.

It's been awhile since I made something for m'self! This yarn is spun from 60% of our alpaca with 40% of our merino wool. A cuff and a sleeve to go and then ready to block and wear!

102°F today and definitely wanted an indoor project.
I grabbed a skein of my handspun 50% alpaca, 35% wool, 15% silk yarn;
whipped up a quick microwave dye inspired by the blossoming hydrangeas (green, blue, pink);
hung it on my garden fence to dry (did NOT take long because it's so hot today!);
wove it into a buttonhole scarf on my Ashford rigid heddle lap loom.

- a little bit of lightning and thunder
- fire in the wood stove

Alpaca shearing! I'm giving this sweet girl a pedicure while she's getting her neck fiber clipped. I LOVE gray! Did you know: alpacas have "toenails" not "hooves"?!

It's shearing season!!! We call shearing day "health and beauty day" since it's a great opportunity to trim teeth, give vaccinations, dewormer, apply anti-parasitics, trim toenails, check body score, AND get a haircut. It's always fun to see "the big reveal" from each alpaca's "makeover haircut". 🤩
