Odin, a Great Pyrenees from Sonoma County, became a symbol of courage during the 2017 Tubbs Fire in California. When flames swept through his family’s farm, Odin refused to leave the rescue goats he protected. While his owners fled to safety, Odin stayed behind, facing the fire alone to guard his flock.
Days later, the family returned expecting loss, but instead found Odin alive, leading all eight goats to safety. He had even protected several baby deer, sheltering them through the disaster. His thick white coat was singed, but his loyalty remained untouched.
Why Odin’s Story Moved the World:
Courage. He stayed calm and protective in life-threatening danger.
