April 17 - “Looking out from the Blasket Centre” County Kerry - Ireland . 6 x 8 x 1” $350
I’m sure you noticed I stopped posting these paintings each day. It was changing the entire experience for me, and in a negative way. Trying to make some form of art each day is a challenge in its own right. The added layer of posting it to social media was making it feel impossible.
My experience this time around is really enlightening. It’s showing me my need for rules/deadlines, as well as the added challenges in my life versus when I used to do this more than a decade ago. I have a business that needs my attention and I have to ignore that in order to give myself time for this. My business pays my bills, so trying to turn that off in my brain is a huge challenge. I’m also a mom now and there’s been a couple days this month that have left me ready for bed when she’s gone to bed 😂 even if I didn’t go right to bed, I obviously didn’t have the mental capacity to sit down and make a piece of art.
When I was about 5 days in I regretted the entire thing. That was when I decided to stop worrying about sharing them each day. This decision removed a lot of pressure.
I will keep going for the rest of the month and share pieces of my collection when it works for me - with a final reveal to come in May.
I wanted to share this piece because I really love it. After doing many days in a row of teeny tiny paintings, I made some time to do a normal sized piece and it was really fun.
Thank you for following along! If you need any gifts for anyone, please consider coming by the shop or visiting my website this month. Your purchases will help me get through the last couple weeks of this project 😊
