Mural of the Month: The People Behind the Label

Painted in 2000 by artist Chuck Caplinger of Twentynine Palms, California, this mural celebrates Exeter’s rich agricultural roots and the legacy of the Emperor grape, once a major driver of the local economy.

It also honors the hardworking local families whose efforts helped shape our community and its success.

📍 Location: 251 E. Pine St. – West wall in the alley, currently the building of the Tricia Kirksey Real Estate Team.

Next time you’re downtown, take a closer look—and see if you can spot the hidden California black bear!

We’re proud to feature our artist of the month Miguel Pujol—an acrylic painter inspired by the outdoors, atmosphere, and storytelling, and a truly creative force in our community.

In addition to his art, Miguel serves on the board at Cache, and owns Monet’s Restaurant with his wife Jennifer, a local favorite in Exeter.

He brings so much creativity and heart to our town—we’re lucky to have him. ✨

You can view his work displayed in our window all month long—come by and check it out!

Mural of the Month: Exeter Road Race, Circa 1916

This month, we’re featuring “Exeter Road Race Circa 1916”, painted in 2006 by Colleen Mitchell-Veyna. The mural captures a lively moment from the early 1900's, depicting race cars preparing for a road race through downtown Exeter at the corner of Pine & “F” streets.

With the Rocky Hill Motorfest happening downtown last weekend, it feels like the perfect time to recognize this mural. It’s a great reminder that Exeter’s connection to cars goes back more than a century!

Look closely and you may recognize a few familiar faces in the mural - such as beloved Exeter residents Wes Clover & Steve Ooley, along with members of the artist’s family.

Hidden Object Challenge!
A Polar Bear
Hidden Numbers
A child holding a bear
Symbols from the TV show “Lost”

📍 Location: Painted on the wall at 250 S. F St., Exeter, CA - On F street, between Chestnut & Maple. Currently Southern Tire Mart.
