A little behind-the-scenes of the NeeDoh craze…
For those of you who have been following the wild popularity of NeeDoh, I wanted to share some backstory.
We have been carrying NeeDoh since it first arrived on the market years ago. The company behind NeeDoh, Schylling, has been one of our partners since we opened Tools 4 Teaching in 2017. While many people know them for NeeDoh, they also create so many of the fun products you see throughout our store, from lava lamps and impulse toys to classic best sellers.
As NeeDoh went viral again this year and demand skyrocketed, Schylling made the decision to pause opening new accounts. Instead, they chose to focus on supporting the specialty toy stores that have supported them for years. They even put a temporary hold on new orders for 90 days as they work to catch up with demand.
Don’t worry—we placed plenty of orders between February and May, so we’ll still have staggered NeeDoh releases coming throughout the summer!
What really impressed me this week at the toy show was seeing how Schylling chose to celebrate the independent toy stores that helped build their brand. They created a giant display featuring the names of specialty toy stores from across the country and invited us to color in our store name as part of the display.
It was a simple gesture, but it meant a lot.
In a world that often focuses on the next big thing, it’s refreshing to see a company remember the partners who believed in them long before the viral videos, sold-out products, and record-breaking sales.
This is what true partnership looks like.
We supported you long before the success, and we’ll continue supporting you long after the hype settles down.
Thank you, Schylling, for remembering the specialty toy industry and for making small businesses like ours feel like a valued part of your story. ❤️
