Hi everyone! This is a hard post to write, but it’s time.
On June 2nd, 2018, my parents and I stood in a circle holding hands in our new, tiny shaved ice trailer. We prayed that it would be a place we could serve others, grow closer as a family, and most of all, be a place that reflected the joy of Jesus Christ. We opened our windows and had our first customer that day, followed by a line around the block that waited for me to figure out this small business thing on the run.
Today, four summers later, I can thank God for answering that prayer. I bought Snoop’s as a sophomore in college, new to Eureka, needing a way to make it through college. Today, I am finishing up my Master’s Degree, engaged, fully invested in and supported by the Eureka community, and ready to take on life! Sadly, the time demands of my little shaved ice trailer just don’t fit into my future anymore. As a family, we have made the very hard decision to sell Snoop’s Shaved Ice.
To my family, thank you. I quite literally could not have done this without you. You each played such an important role in making this thing go. Mom, you gave me the confidence to take a chance on this business. You were the engine for us. You gave us creativity, energy, handiness, and made this adventure one of the best ones yet. Dad, we made a heck of a business team. Thank you for all the advice and support. Corinna, together we were the face of our business. Some of my favorite memories with you are at Snoop’s…we became very best friends inside that tiny trailer where we spent thousands of hours together. Thank you for giving so freely of your time and energy to help me. Braden, thank you for the hours you sat in a hot trailer with me bossing you around for literally nothing but a free shaved ice. I believe if we can survive 100 degree days in Snoop’s, our relationship can survive anything😉. Tabitha, Brendan, and my nieces, thank you for filling in all the gaps wherever needed. Whether it was a pick up to haul, nice handwriting for menus, employees when I was away, or supper when hours went long, you were all always by my side and had my back. To all my family, thank you. For giving up time, for spending every summer holiday in a shaved ice trailer, and for supporting me in every venture, including this one and the next ❤️
To the customers & the Eureka community- Thank you. When I bought Snoop’s, I was new to Eureka, knew no one, and felt like I didn’t have a hometown. Now, you are my hometown. I know you by name…and flavor! Thank you for bringing my favorite people to me—the cutest little ones! And for celebrating your sweetest moments with me—homeruns, birthdays, and girls’ night out. I didn’t take any of those moments for granted. Your support went way beyond the $2 you gave me for your shaved ice, and I am so thankful.
To Snoop’s—what a ride. Four summers spent inside your walls. I gave you my time, my money, my energy, my summers. You gave me relationships, confidence, experience, and a community. We did what we set out to do through you— you were a place that shone the joy of Jesus Christ. You are one of my favorite adventures and I’ll never forget you.
Love,
Terran.
