Getting sick of reading about coin errors and seeing it stated in the article, and I see it often, that a coin "Must" be authenticated by one of the leading "Grading" Companies.
This is entirely bu****it and manipulation of a hobby to turn it into a gate keeping crap hobby that would keep novice collectors not wanting to collect due to the gatekeepers and their tyrannical business practices fees and derelict guarantees.
A coin speaks for itself. Anyone can learn how to preform a authenticity check without having to pay some gatekeepers fees. It is total nonsense to ever send any coin to anyone. If you can find a photo of what a MS70 coin looks like in all denominations( not on any grading website, wounder why?) You can then use coin "facts" by PCGS to compare yours to ones they have graded at whatever grade. Unfortunately there are no from the Mint images of what a perfect coin is supposed to look like. Only grades a profiteering company wants you to think are the grades posted by them.
We can do this hobby better without the need of these tyrants and profiteers. With the invent of the WWW no one should have to pay these entities ever again. So when you see ads for them , ignore them. They do no one any good except their own pockets. Period.
