As Cigar and Pipe lovers we often hear about the dangers of smoking ci**rs. I won't ever say that it's good for you because there's a danger in everything, including a study that has found s*x as a hazard to health.
Still, the arguments we hear from the medical community and worse yet the anti-smoking zealots tell us is based on studies and research about CIGARETTE smoking. Not enough research has been dome on Premium Ci**rs or Pipes while Cigarette studies have been ongoing since the 1950s or even earlier.
Much of this misapplied data is being used to push for legislation to regulate Premium Ci**rs, sort of like applying the same safety standards to a passenger car or SUV that we do to a Semi. Highway Flares or reflectors, a driver’s log, air brakes and so on. Those regulations make sense for semis, but I’m not about to keep a log accounting for how much sleep I get in a 24 hour period.
The ingredients in a cigar are time and water. Premium ci**rs are made entirely from whole-leaf to***co that has been aged extensively – and that’s it. They are made whole leaf to***co which is aged and fermented, like wine before being assembled by hand into a cigar. There are standards regarding the composition of a cigar with the bundle, binder and wrapper all being to***co leaf.
Ci******es on the other hand are loaded with artificial burning agents and additives, plus the paper and the filter. Often ci******es are made with additives, up to 25% or the weight of the cigarette. The added chemicals combined with inhalation is where a great deal of the danger comes from
We all know that none of you inhale, right? If you do, you shouldn’t both for the health concern and you missing most of the flavor, a huge part of the enjoyment of a premium cigar.
Enough from me, I’m NOT an expert on the medical aspects; my specialty is helping my customers and friends select the best cigar or pipe to assure and awesome experience.
My point here is this NEW study of the effects of CIGAR smoking compared to ci******es. Written by legitimate researchers in a true research format including sources and information as to who paid for the study. It’s a good sized PDF for you to download but a worthwhile read if you’re one of us who loves learning.
My book review would read, interesting subject, well delivered and written but the character development and plot suck. Still take some time and read it. Attached is the file
Background Ci**rs and ci******es are both smoked, but much less is known about the former’s long-term health effects, due to its low prevalence and infrequent collection of cigar information in national surveys. Purpose We conducted a follow-up mortality study of cigar-smoking men age 40–79 year...
