Element 4 of 4! The roots were the hardest part of this design to get right.

In Norse Mythology, there are 3 roots in this tree, I'm happy with this design's nod toward that fact through the three pairs of roots.

The roots connect different realms and symbolize ancestry, wisdom, sacrifice, and the hidden support system.

I wanted these roots to feel strong, natural, and grounded - representing the generations, stories, faith, and resilience that continue to support families and communities today.

Check the comment below to learn more about the unexpected place one of the roots go to for wisdom. ⬇️

Element 3 of 4: The Trunk

The "world axis", everything revolves around the trunk. Without the trunk, the heavens wouldn't be connected to the mortal realm and the realm of the dead. This is the place of connection.

Check in the comments for the Celtic interpretation.

One more element left then you'll see the whole thing!

Element 2 of 4: The Branches

After the knot, the design begins to grow!

These branches (and we) reach heavenward for light ☀️

There’s still more to come before the full reveal in video 5.

It’s starting to come together!

Element 1 of 4: The Knot

Every part of this year’s Scandinavian Festival design builds from here.

I wanted this knot to symbolize eternity, connection, and generations woven together through heritage and tradition.

I used two Viking relics as inspiration for this element - check the comments for more details.

After experimenting with different variations, I kept coming back to the original 12-segment design because it balanced the entire piece best.

Over the next few videos, I’ll be sharing the other symbolic elements women into this year’s design before the full reveal in video 5.

The design is starting to unfold…

This year’s Scandinavian. Festival design is the most symbolic one I’ve created yet.

I’ve reworked this design over and over because I wanted it to be meaningful.

Over the next week, I’ll be sharing little pieces of the design and the symbolism behind them before the full reveal. I can’t wait for you to see it!

Before this was a business, I was already making things for people — and they wanted to pay me.
But it didn’t feel official, and I didn’t know how to actually start a business.

So I asked for help.
With guidance from the Small Business Development Center at Snow, and a lot of encouragement, a handful of creative ideas slowly turned into something real.

When it came time to name the business, we were sitting at the local Malt Shop on Ephraim’s Main Street, playing with a name generator that mixed our last names.
One option was Trippon — and when it was said out loud, we paused.

It reminded us of phrases like carry on or keep on — and after COVID, we craved real experiences again — travel, community, small towns, and memories.

So Tripp On became our way of encouraging people to get out, explore, and support local places.

“Safe travels, and Tripp On.”

We’re grateful for the people and businesses who have collaborated with us to promote our small towns."

From festivals to family reunions, I love creating shirts that mean something to the people wearing them.

These shirts were designed by one of my cousins for her family reunion. It includes comfy hoodies and high quality T-shirts in youth and adult sizes 😊

Hi, I'm Bethany, the face behind these shirts 👋☺️ I started this little T-shirt business because I wanted items with our small towns names on them. Born and raised in Ephraim, I attended the Scandinavian Festival all my growing up years so it's very personally fulfilling to participate as an official vendor. I'm excited as we gear up for the festival again this May! Thanks for all your love and support these past few years! ❤️
