Cochenille Design Studio develops software for the textile arts. Garment Designer and Stitch Painter are the two main program, both for Windows and Mac. The company also develops design aids. Garment Designer is a patterning program for both sewers and knitters. Stitch Painter is used to create Grid-based designs with ease. Here is my finished up cycle project. Made from two pair of blue jeans, one Thai fisherman pants, and one quilted vest. Garment Designer provided the pattern. It is a mosaic of sorts, built by pieces that are engineered in position made easy by using the pattern as a template.

I loved creating these pants. I started me measuring a favorite pair of pants for fit and then developed the pattern in Garment Designer with minor changes. I had fun adding a few design details such as the lantern panel with pleats at the hem. The fabric is a mix of cotton and linen.
