TIME OUT. NO. No, nobody needs to do these things on social media. Do you all know what ASMR and GRWM mean? I didn’t so I looked them up. ASMR, more like WTF?! Nope, not doing that. Why, please tell me why, any business owner should be expected to do these things? This is getting creepy!

Real question: is it because people are no longer connecting emotionally and physically in real life, that they are replacing real connections, emotions and feelings with social media? Feeling like they are “close” to the people creating these reels? I hate to break it to those folks, but that is not real. I also hate to hurt everyone’s feeling, but your reels don’t send chills down my spine. As someone who studied sociology and psychology in college (long before all this existed), I am genuinely baffled and curious by the need to feel emotionally “connected” to a business one may or may not be shopping from.

Can’t we just show a little cleavage anymore 😉? Nobody needs to “get ready” with any business owner to make a purchase. And customers (strangers) really really shouldn’t need to be relaxed and stimulated by business owners to make a purchase. This is just getting creepy y’all, plain and simple. I am not afraid to say that if customers expect these things from me in order to feel comfortable buying from me, I don’t want them as customers. Look up ASMR if you think I’m overreacting about these content ideas 😵‍💫.

I apologize for the low quality video. I however am completely sick of setting up an entire movie set just to make a post for social media that accomplishes absolutely nothing, so I am no longer putting in the effort. Anyway, I hope this does accomplish something as I would like to advertise how cool it is to buy a handbag made of recycled materials instead of a brand new handbag.

A couple weeks ago I saw an advertisement on Instagram from Patricia Nash. It was a campaign for denim handbags, which were all priced around $200. I thought to myself “those are super cute, but I would never spend that much money on something like that, especially when there’s enough jeans in landfills to clothe the entire world four times over.”

So I went to Etsy looking for a upcycled/recycled denim handbags. And I found this little gem- for $45. It is handmade by an actual gal in the United States and she did beautiful work. The store is called RecycledSewAdorably. As I’m typing this, I realized I have not tried to find her on social media, and I apologize for that also. I will definitely do that. I just had to share this with you all as I received this purse a couple days ago and used it for the first time today. It is everything I could have wanted and more. The best part is that it’s eco friendly. Why on earth would you make new denim for handbags, when there are millions of denim jeans out there just waiting to be upcycled and turned into beautiful things like this?

Are they gorgeous? Yes! Do I remember what I ordered? No. Will I have to go back and look at my invoice and figure out what it all is? Yes. Will I input that into a spreadsheet? Ha! 🤣 do I look like an accountant or something? No. Will I remember why I ordered them? No. Will you see these stones made into jewelry anytime soon? Likely no.

Aren’t they cool tho? YES.

When you decide not support Amazon, and add a stop at Michael’s on errand day instead… then spend an extra $100 on overpriced craft supplies 🤗

At least the young man working rang me up on the self checkouts they have installed at the cash wrap.

I do have to order items on Amazon, for example Ben’s bandaging supplies. Walgreens, grocery stores and even Big R don’t have what he needs, but Amazon does. However, I very very rarely turn to Amazon for jewelry making supplies, and I most certainly NEVER purchase clothing or jewelry on Amazon. SHOP and SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESS!!!!
