Had to try my hand at imagining what Jerry might have sounded like sitting in with these cats…almost reminded me of what Jerry & Link Wray might have sounded like if they had collab’d in ‘98 rather than ‘72, ha. been listening to the ***ypodcast for a while now - filled with cautionary tales and inspiring stories alike; this show provides insights into the subjects often considered ‘too heavy’ for everyday conversation, featuring guests who are/have been impacted by addiction. I highly recommend checking it out. The d***y episode is the most riveting podcast/interview I’ve ever heard. Make sure to listen to the Mountain Girl, Big Steve, and Justin Kreutzmann episodes as well!!

Dave Manheim, host of the show and writer of this tune “If I’m Not Home,” says this recording dates back to a 1998 performance right across the street from the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY. While his band wasn’t even fully developed at the time, and jerry had been gone for 3 years by that point, I can’t help but wonder what the two worlds would have sounded like if they had gotten the chance to overlap, and my imagination is as good as that’s gonna get until our AI overlords take over

missed too many notes and had no idea what I was doing around 45 seconds but yall. This Chuck Berry tune from from 1971 sounded like it was straight off of a jgb record when I first heard it….Obviously it’s a blues form, so that feels a little bit like cheating at my own rules of songs they could have covered, given how many good blues tunes JGB hit throughout their time…but. That all being said, Chuck was my first favorite guitar player, (before I was ready to listen to Jerry’s more explorative playing, ha) so I was surprised this tune had slipped by me. Can you imagine let’s spend the night together > let’s do our thing together?! I can’t stop thinking about it lol

thrilled to get to try the latest creation from - these are exceptionally high quality, spectacular looking cables, with an “overbuilt” feel that I absolutely love! Capacitance of 20pf/ft. Have been gigging with these for a few gigs, very impressed! forgive my framing in the demo…that was a fun first trying to balance a cable coil on the guitar while playing 🤣

From Signal Chain Audio Labs: The Tie-Dyed Braided Guitar Cable is a limited edition cable honoring the legacy of Bob Weir, legendary guitarist and founding member of the Grateful Dead. Every cable is individually numbered and soldered and assembled by hand.

Signal Chain Audio Labs engineered these cables to be as distinctive as the music that inspired them. Each one is truly one-of-a-kind and built with the same premium components the company’s professional clients depend on. And it’s a functional work of art that musicians can actually use.

Bob Weir’s artistry and innovation shaped generations of musicians. Creating something as unique and handcrafted as his music felt like the right way to honor his legacy, and directing 100% of the proceeds to the Furthur Foundation - the non-profit founded by Bob Weir that provides funding for environmental and social change initiatives in the San Francisco Bay area and around the world - ensures this tribute supports the causes he championed throughout his life.

this one has been in my head the last few months with its whistling intro and badass organ holding down the melody line…thanks to my good friend turning me onto Bobby Charles a few years ago. I was late to the party!! Something about this one has always felt like a legion of Mary sort of vibe to me…I feel like it would have gone over beautifully in a big, reverberant venue…one can dream!

Introducing the first collaboration between JTS and : “Woody”

I’ve fallen head over heels in love with the prototype and are thrilled to announce we’re taking orders for the first run of five guitars. Come see it in action tonight with !

Yes, we know that’s Mr. Horsepower on the pickguard, but come on, “Woody” is a much cleaner nickname 🤣

Check it out on the site in the bio for more information!

Featuring the classic cigar-smoking woodpecker mascot adored by the racing and hotrodding community, (Mr. Horsepower, by Clay Smith, 1931) prominently displayed on the pickguard, this guitar pays tribute to several notable jerry guitars through its beautiful blend of influences. By mixing and matching some of our favorite elements from Alligator & Tiger in particular, with some tribute to Lightning Bolt and Wolf as well, we were able to create an instrument that stands out with flair, while still being able to “blend in” outside of the context of the grateful dead-inspired music world. Featuring a swamp ash body like Alligator, a 16” fretboard radius like Tiger, a set-neck like Wolf, a bridge/tailpiece setup inspired by Wolf, Tiger & Alligator, period-correct electronics values/wiring like Tiger (plus some special extra touches), a maple fingerboard like alligator, a Waldotronics Tiger buffer, and a hybrid body shape that Lotto has been perfecting for years, this guitar is the alternate universe instrument of my dreams, and can become yours too!

I have always loved the sound of Jerry Garcia’s guitar, which inspired me to mod my personal Strats like a lot of his main guitars were wired; additionally, shifting the pickups as they would be positioned on a 24 fret guitar (thanks, )!

Inspired by how useful I’ve found these setups to be over the last 6+ years, plus the way folks on the internet have strong feelings one way or another when you have too many switches, I’ve created easily my silliest yet most useful guitar yet - my little switchcaster lol…

while my last main guitar featured 3 pickups and 176 electronically distinct pickup positions, this one adds a 4th pickup and ups the count to 255 in total, not including the *extra* functions

The 4th pickup addition to this one was a direct result of so many folks half sarcastically saying “well, you got room for another pickup in that gap” after seeing my other guitars. Additionally, I found during some moments at gigs that the stock Strat neck position was something I was missing - the jerry neck pickup did it for me 95% of the time, but 5% of the time, would have been nice to have the stock Strat neck. Problem now solved

you may be going “how the hell would you ever remember any positions” and you are correct, lol. I use the ones I know I love and if a happy accident is found, I guess I’ll run into it again one day 🤣

if you include the OBEL (onboard effects loop) on and off, plus the second buffer/resulting EQ curve that is introduced when the effects loop is on as an option, we get to 765 electronically distinct positions - but that doesn’t include the (up to) 3 function footswitch that is designed to work with my amp nation amps - turned it into a “hand switch” and put it on the guitar

if we include the 2 standard footswitch functions as individual states, we can up the number of possible sound combos to 3060

And lastly, I’m building an amplifier to go with this guitar which will include a 3rd function in the footswitch and up the potential sounds to 6120 🤣🤣🤣

Isolated Bob Weir appreciation post - hope everyone is hanging in there and finding music to inspire them this week! remembered I found these stems years ago somewhere…
