OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE — GPD OFFICER INVOLVED IN MAJOR TRAFFIC COLLISION HAS SUCCUMBED TO HIS INJURIES

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share the news that Officer Harminder Grewal succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, August 26, 2021, following a head-on traffic collision with another vehicle that sent him and his partner to the hospital on Sunday, August 22, 2021. He made the ultimate sacrifice while performing his duties as a public servant, responding to danger.

Officer Grewal took pride in serving his community and his work ethic was contagious to all who worked with him. His service to our community will never be forgotten. Officer Grewal, a 2 ½ year veteran of the department, leaves behind a mother, father, brother and a countless number of family, friends, and loved ones. Please keep his family, friends, GPD family and all those impacted by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.

“Detective Jeremy Brown was shot and killed while conducting surveillance at an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Northeast 109th Avenue in Vancouver.

He was approached by three people and was shot as he sat in his vehicle. Two subjects were arrested near the scene. The subject who shot Detective Brown was arrested by members of the United States Marshals Service on July 25th, 2021, and charged with first-degree aggravated murder.

Detective Brown had served with the Clark County Sheriff's Office for 15 years and was assigned to the Clark-Vancouver Drug Task Force. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had previously served with the Washington State Department of Corrections and the Missoula County Sheriff's Office in Montana.”

25 years old. Going to enjoy a meal break with his significant other. Gets ambushed and killed, while his friend is wounded.

Marquis Moorer didn’t deserve this. We are tired and at a loss of words as the murders of law enforcement officers are happening way too often. You will not be forgotten. Justice is the only way.

Four years ago today, South Sacramento CHP Motor Officer, Lucas Forrest Chellew, #19402, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the residents of California. We remember him today for that sacrifice, but we also remember the Lucas we knew, the larger than life personality with the big smile that was a friend to all at the office. Rest easy 112-M10, we have the watch.
