As Elephant Butte Lake gets lower, anglers not wanting to fish from the bank need to buy a kayak. A kayak made for fishing is a very stable craft, but no one can hold a fishing rod and paddle a kayak at the same time. You need a pedal drive system! Hobie Kayaks invented the fin drive way back in 1997. With a Hobie, your hands are empty so you can hold a fishing rod. Since then, Hobie has updated their "MirageDrive" many times. Other manufactures are offering Hobie's original pedal drive (now that the original patent has run out) as their own creation. Zia Kayak has Hobie's 2026 MirageDrive in stock. Anglers, I hope everyone is doing well. With much anticipation the registration for the 12th Annual Zia Kayak Outfitters event is live on TourneyX. Below will be the link for registration. The next thing I will be posting is the payout structure as we are waiting on a couple things to be finalized.

Captains Meeting
Friday, May 15th: State Park Training Room. To get there enter through the State Park Entrance (Marina Del Sur) when you get to the round about past the pay station the state park facilities are on your right. It’s the first right when you hit the roundabout. Drive up the hill and you will find us.

Check In/Board Checks- 6-7 pm (MANDATORY BOARD CHECKS)

Captains Meeting- 7-8 pm

Registration Closes - 7 pm

Saturday May 16th: Tourament Day

Legal Launch / First Cast- 5:45 am

Fishing Ends- 3:00 pm

Off the water 4:00

Photo Submission deadline- 4:30 pm
